Thank you to our amazing SNAP Vet Techs, and every Vet Tech around the world, for what you do!

10/21/2026

As you can tell our team is used to working behind the scenes, but they deserve all the recognition! Don't forget to thank you fellow vet techs during Vet Tech Week! We'll be celebrating at SNAP October 19-23, 2026!

10/20/2026

A veterinary technician (vet tech) is a trained veterinary medical professional who works alongside veterinarians to provide care for animals. Think of them as the veterinary equivalent of nurses in human healthcare. Veterinary technicians are involved in every step of your pet's care. 🩺🐾

From the moment a patient arrives, our vet techs help collect medical histories, assist with exams, administer vaccines, place microchips, and support our veterinarians during appointments.

They also play a critical role in surgery by preparing patients for procedures, monitoring anesthesia, assisting during surgery, and carefully overseeing recovery afterward. Vet techs help ensure every pet receives safe, compassionate care from intake to discharge.

Whether they're comforting a nervous patient, educating pet parents, or providing lifesaving medical support, our veterinary technicians are dedicated to the health and well-being of every pet who walks through our doors.

This Vet Tech Week, we're celebrating the incredible people behind the scenes who make exceptional patient care possible every day.

10/19/2026

It's Vet Tech Appreciation Week! This week is all about celebrating the people who wear a million hats: nurse, anesthesiologist, tech, lab scientist, sanitary managers, and pet comforter all before lunch. Thank you for everything you do!

If you're heading to SNAP for your pet's appointment from Monday October 19, 2026 to Friday October 23, 2026, don't forget to thank your vet tech. ♥️🐾

Did you know, unspayed female dogs and cats are at a high risk of developing mammary gland tumors. Hershey's family have turned their heartbreak into purpose, becoming strong advocates for spay and neuter education. They share her story so her outcome—and their sorrow—are not in vain.

Hershey was an 11-year-old Miniature Doberman/Chihuahua mix who had been deeply loved, well fed, fully vaccinated, and cherished by a family who treated her like gold.

At 10 years old, Hershey was diagnosed with mammary cancer. During her first surgery, a tumor was removed, and she was spayed at the same time. In June 2025, another painful tumor was surgically removed. Sadly, by November 2025, the cancer had spread to her bones. Another tumor appeared, then the cancer moved to her stomach. Within just 30 days, Hershey’s health declined drastically. With heavy hearts, just days before Christmas and shortly before her 12th birthday, Hershey’s family made the most selfless decision a pet owner can make. They chose to humanely euthanize her and let her rest.

What if Hershey had been spayed before her first heat cycle? She could have lived a longer, healthier life—and had more time with the family who loved her.

When you share stories like Hershey’s or support SNAP’s mission, you’re doing more than offering help—you’re educating others. You can be the reason someone makes a life-saving choice for their pet.
