We’re excited to share some wonderful news with our community : Briony and Bryan are now co-owners of Village Books 📚🐾

For many years, they’ve been passionate about supporting local families, pets, and small businesses through The Bryi's Pet Sitting and The Bryi's Dog Training. Becoming part of Village Books is another exciting step in continuing that commitment to our community.

Books have a unique way of bringing people together. They encourage learning, spark imagination, create conversation, and help communities grow stronger. Briony and Bryan believe that independent bookstores play an important role in keeping local connections alive: something they’ve always valued deeply.

As active members of the community and proud long-term supporters of The Woodlands Pride, they’re excited about the opportunities this new partnership creates to further support inclusion, education, local collaboration, and community events throughout The Woodlands.

Whether it’s helping pets feel safe and cared for, supporting families through training and pet care, or encouraging a love of reading and lifelong learning, the goal remains the same: building a stronger, kinder, more connected community.

We’re incredibly excited for this next chapter and can’t wait to share future collaborations, local partnerships, book recommendations, events, and community-focused ideas with you all. 💙

Sun’s out, paws out, and the personalities are on full display ☀️🐾 Remi is on a serious mission, nose to the ground, decoding every scent like it’s breaking news.

Meanwhile, Rosie and Violet have clearly decided today is for full-speed fun: chasing, bouncing, and turning the yard into their personal playground. It’s the perfect mix of calm curiosity and joyful chaos, all wrapped up in one sunny moment.

Seriously, who needs TV when you’ve got this kind of entertainment outside? 😄 Which one do you relate to more: team “sniff every detail” or team “let’s just play”?

Meet Romeo 💛

Romeo is one of those dogs who completely rewrites what people think dogs are supposed to be like.

He’s not a cuddler.
He doesn’t come when you call him.
He prefers observing over interacting.
And affection? That’s strictly on his terms: usually in the form of a quick butt scratch before he’s on his way again.

Honestly… he’s a lot like a cat.

But here’s what makes Romeo so special, and why we love caring for him:

His mom knows him.

She understands exactly who he is, what he likes, what he doesn’t, and what makes him feel safe. And she shares every detail with us so we can step into his world without disrupting it.

Because for pets like Romeo, care isn’t about changing them: it’s about respecting them.

During our visits, that means:

• Letting him approach us when he’s ready
• Never picking him up unexpectedly (especially since he’s deaf)
• Giving him his favorite quiet spaces: like under clothes in the closet
• Keeping walks short and stress-free (3 houses is his limit and that’s okay!)
• Letting him enjoy his favorite pastime: balcony people-watching 🐾

What we’ve learned from dogs like Romeo is this:

Not every pet shows love the same way.
And that doesn’t make their bond with us any less meaningful.

Sometimes love looks like sitting nearby instead of snuggling.
Sometimes it looks like trust instead of excitement.
Sometimes it looks like a quiet little companion who just wants to exist peacefully in their space.

And when we meet them there: that’s when real trust is built.

We’re so grateful to clients like Romeo’s mom who advocate for their pets so beautifully. It allows us to provide care that isn’t just “good enough”… it’s truly personalized.

💬 Do you have a pet with a “unique” personality? Tell us about them: we love these kinds of stories!

🐾 Senior Pet Comfort Tip: Bathroom Breaks & Easy Access Matter

As pet guardians ourselves, we’ve noticed something that often surprises people as pets get older: senior pets may need more frequent potty breaks: not fewer.

Just like puppies, seniors can struggle to “hold it” as long. But unlike puppies, the challenge isn’t just timing: it’s often access.

We see it with many older pets:

Steps leading outside become difficult

Even a small change in floor height at the doorway can feel like a hurdle for smaller dogs

Some seniors who once used a doggy door confidently become hesitant or unsure

When getting outside feels hard or uncomfortable, pets may delay asking: which can lead to stress or accidents.

That’s where small adjustments can make a big difference:

Adding ramps for garden access, not just couches and beds

Making sure doorways and paths are clear and well-lit

No slip floors to make getting up easier

Offering more frequent opportunities to go out, even if they don’t always take them

We often think about extra potty breaks for puppies, but seniors may be just as grateful for them: especially when combined with easier, joint-friendly access.

For more excellent guidance on supporting aging dogs, we recommend checking out the Canine Arthritis Management (CAM) website. They share practical, compassionate tips that align closely with what we see in the field every day.

Have you noticed your senior pet hesitating at the door or seeming unsure about getting outside? 💛

Temperature Risks (Not Just a Summer Issue)

Temperature safety isn’t only about extreme heat or cold. It’s about comfort and regulation.

Pets don’t adjust layers or thermostats the way we do. They rely on us to notice when something’s off.

We recommend:
• Plenty of fresh water, always
• Shaded or cozy resting spots depending on season
• Limiting outdoor time during temperature extremes
• Watching for subtle signs of discomfort

When pets are comfortable, they rest better, eat better, and handle routine changes with less stress.

How does your pet like to stay comfortable at home?

If I could talk, I think you’d finally understand something…

You are my whole world.

You’re the one who knows exactly how I like my food.
You’re the one who notices when I’m just a little “off.”
You’re the one I wait for by the door…every single time.

You call yourself my mom/owner/guardian
But to me?

You’re my safe place. My routine. My everything.

We see it every day as pet sitters: the way pets light up when their moms walk back in, the way they settle when they hear your voice. That bond is real, and it matters more than anything.

To all the pet moms out there…
Happy Mother’s Day. You are everything to them. 💛

There’s something magical about that perfect little patch of sunshine and Rivers, Brighton, and Serenity found it instantly ☀️🐾 Whether it’s a full backyard or just a tiny glowing spot, these three know exactly where to park themselves for maximum warmth and relaxation. Watching them soak it all in, eyes squinting and tails still, is the kind of simple joy we love most. Days like this remind us that happiness can be as easy as a sunny nap and good company. Are your pets sun chasers too, or more of the cozy couch crew?

James was very focused on her demonstration today… 😄

She made sure our sitter got a full lesson on how the scratching post works complete with technique, enthusiasm, and maybe just a little bit of judgment if we didn’t take notes fast enough.

Now, we’re not entirely sure what she was trying to say…
Was she politely suggesting we help with a nail file?
Or just proudly handling her own manicure like the independent queen she is?

Either way, she reminded us of something important we see all the time in pet sitting:

Scratching isn’t “bad behavior”: it’s essential behavior.

Scratching helps cats:
• Maintain healthy nails
• Stretch their muscles and joints
• Mark their territory in a natural, stress-relieving way

And when they have the right outlet (like James clearly does), everyone wins: cats, furniture, and sitters alike.

The key? Not all cats like the same setup. Some prefer:
• Tall vertical posts for a full stretch
• Horizontal scratchers for lounging and clawing
• Different textures like sisal, cardboard, or carpet

Finding your cat’s preference can make a huge difference in their happiness (and your couch’s survival 😅).

So now we’re curious…

What kind of scratching post does your cat prefer? Vertical, horizontal, or “whatever the couch is made of”? Let us know in the comments!

There’s something extra special about the quiet, observant ones 💛

This is Peaches: our Bryi’s Pet Sitting office bunny 🐰
(you can see her here 👉 )

Peaches came to us as a rescue, and over the years she’s made it very clear… she’s not here for cuddles. She prefers her space, her independence, and watching the world on her terms. And honestly? We respect that.

But don’t let that fool you:she’s still very much part of the crew and is content hanging out alongside Willow and Sefton, the office cats.

Earlier this year, Peaches gave us quite a scare. There were some uncertain moments, and we leaned heavily on great veterinary care and close monitoring. Thankfully, she bounced back and is just as curious and inquisitive as ever.

And here’s what makes her story even more incredible:

Peaches is over 14 years old.

For rabbits, that is extremely old. Most rabbits live around 8–12 years, so every extra day with her truly feels like a gift.

Caring for a senior rabbit like Peaches has taught us so much about what helps them thrive: not just survive.

If you have a bunny (or are thinking about one), here are our Top 5 Tips for Keeping Your Rabbit Healthy:

🐰 1. Hay is everything
A constant supply of high-quality hay supports digestion and dental health: it should be the foundation of their diet.

🥬 2. Fresh greens daily
Leafy greens provide essential nutrients and enrichment (but always introduce new foods slowly).

💧 3. Hydration matters more than you think
Clean, fresh water at all times: hydration plays a huge role in overall health.

🦷 4. Watch their teeth & appetite closely
Changes in eating habits can be one of the first signs something isn’t right.

🏡 5. Respect their personality
Not every rabbit wants to be held or cuddled. Giving them control over their space reduces stress and builds trust.

Peaches reminds us every day that good care isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s about paying attention, adapting, and honoring who each pet is.

You know those moments that are too funny not to share? Yeah… this is one of them 😂🐾
Caught in the act of peak multitasking, Hank decided there was absolutely no need to pause playtime, because why drop the ball when you can literally do it all? 🎾
The concentration, the balance, the sheer commitment to fetch… it’s honestly impressive. Some dogs chase dreams: Hank holds onto them, no matter what.
Safe to say, we’ve got an overachiever on our hands 😎
Be honest: does your pet have a hidden talent like this?"

It started as a cute idea: little “Reserved for the Dog” and “Reserved for the Cat” pillows just to add some personality to the couch 🛋️🐾 But what we didn’t expect? Full compliance. Immediate. Unquestioned. 😂 One by one, they each found their designated spots like it was clearly written law. Dogs on their end, cat on theirs… no mix-ups, no debates, just pure confidence.

Now we’re left wondering: was this coincidence, or are they secretly brushing up on their reading skills when we’re not looking? 👀 Either way, the system works… maybe a little too well.

Should we be impressed… or start labeling everything in the house? 😅"
