Recently, two young puppies were left at our practice. While we are incredibly grateful they were brought somewhere safe instead of being left to fend for themselves, a veterinary clinic is not where puppies should grow up.

These girls should be playing, exploring, and learning what it means to be part of a loving home, not spending their days in a kennel. This stage of their life is so important for socialization, confidence, and development, and we want so much more for them.

They are affectionate, full of potential, and ready to bring so much joy to the right home.

We are urgently looking for a loving family or foster for this sweet girl, Gamora, and her sister. Even a temporary home can make a world of difference in their lives.

If you or someone you know can help, please reach out to us at [email protected].

Please share to help us find these deserving pups the homes they need.

Pictured- Gamora (sister, Nebula, was spayed yesterday so her photoshoot is still to come)

Meet Mac – A Mighty Little Pup

We’d like to share the story of a very special pup named Mac (short for Makenzie). Born the runt of her litter with severe limb deformities, Mac was unable to walk and initially given a poor prognosis.

But Mac’s story didn’t end there. Thanks to Scout’s Honor Rescue, she was evaluated by the team at H-Town Veterinary Specialists, who believed that with corrective surgery on her back legs, she could have a real chance at a happy, active life.

Mac proved them right. With her trademark s***k and resilience, she recovered beautifully from major orthopedic surgery. Today, she spends her days chasing lizards in her foster’s backyard and soaking up naps in warm sunbeams.

While Mac’s surgery was a great success, her early deformities mean she is more susceptible to injury and already has some arthritis. She will require a bit more advanced veterinary care as she ages. She also may eventually need corrective surgery on her front left leg. That means she really needs an amazing pet parent, someone who will give her the love, care, and medical support she deserves (and fortunately for us, we know quite a few amazing pet parents)!

Mac gets along wonderfully with cats, dogs, and children, she truly loves everyone she meets.

If you think you might be the perfect match for Mac, please click the link below to fill out an adoption application.

We’re Now AAHA Accredited!

We’ve always provided the highest standard of patient care, and now we have the accreditation to show it. Our hospital is proud to announce that we are accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA).

What does that mean for you and your pet?

Unlike human hospitals, not all veterinary practices are required to be accredited. In fact, fewer than 15% of veterinary hospitals in North America meet the strict standards AAHA sets. To achieve this honor, our team underwent a rigorous evaluation of over 900 standards covering patient care, safety, diagnostics, pain management, surgery, cleanliness, medical recordkeeping, and more.

This accreditation is your assurance that we go above and beyond to deliver the highest level of care—because your pets deserve nothing less.

A message to our team past and present-

This achievement is entirely thanks to you. From the countless hours spent perfecting protocols, to the compassion you show every patient and client, your dedication made this possible.

AAHA accreditation isn’t just a plaque on the wall; it’s recognition that we meet the highest standards in veterinary medicine. That level of excellence comes only from teamwork, attention to detail, and a shared commitment to providing outstanding care.

Thank you for your incredible hard work, professionalism, and passion. This distinction belongs to each of you, and we couldn’t be more proud to work alongside such a remarkable team.

🐱 Does This Cat Look Familiar?

Meet Ross—our beloved clinic cat (and, truthfully, part-time boss).

He’s been a treasured member of the WHVC family for over 14 years.

Ross’s story is nothing short of incredible:

He was rescued by one of our team members after she witnessed him being thrown from a car window on the highway. With multiple fractures in both back legs, he was rushed to safety.

Thanks to the skilled team at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists, Ross underwent orthopedic surgery and began his long road to recovery.

Today, Ross lives the good life—spoiled daily by our team, greeting clients, napping in sunbeams, and occasionally supervising customer service from the front desk.

🧡 He’s a survivor, a mascot, and a reminder of why we do what we do.
