❤️ **Getting to Know Tobe Turner — A Happy-Go-Lucky Little Guy!**

Some dogs are shy when they meet new people. And then there's Tobe Turner. 😂

These pictures were taken while Tobe was waiting at the veterinarian's office, and I was doing my best to get a few nice photographs of him.

Tobe, however, had absolutely no interest in sitting still!

He's one of those wonderfully friendly little dogs who seems to think everyone he meets is a potential new best friend. He wants attention, he wants affection, and he's not the least bit bashful about asking for either.

Just look at those little paws reaching up!

Tobe is such a happy-go-lucky boy, and he really is deserving of a wonderful life. It's hard not to smile when you're around him.

Right now, we're raising money to cover his basic veterinary care. He's already had his vet visit, and we'd certainly appreciate a little help paying the bill.

But today, more than anything, we wanted you to meet the sweet, silly little fellow behind the fundraiser.

Right now, we're raising money to cover Tobe's basic veterinary care. His vetting expenses total $800, and thanks to some wonderful supporters, we've already raised $147!

That leaves us with **$653 still to raise** to pay his veterinary bill.

If you can help us get a little closer to that goal, we'd certainly appreciate it.

But today, we mostly wanted you to meet the happy-go-lucky little fellow behind the fundraiser. He's an absolute sweetheart, and I think you're going to enjoy getting to know him!

🐾 Meet the Models — January 2027! ❤️

Move over, supermodels. We've got some pretty adorable faces to show off!

We're kicking off a little series introducing the furry stars of our 2027 Lone Star Shih Tzu & Lhasa Apso Rescue Calendar, starting with January!

Every one of these sweet faces belongs to a dog whose family submitted their photograph to be part of this year's calendar. And we have 11 more months of beautiful dogs to share!

Take a good look at our January models. Do you recognize anyone? Is YOUR dog on this page? If so, tell us who we're looking at!

And if you recognize a friend's dog, be sure to tag them. We want all our little celebrities to get the attention they deserve. 😂

Our 2027 calendars are $25 each, plus shipping, and every purchase helps us care for the dogs in our rescue.

Chuck Barkley — Look Who Was Hiding Underneath All That Hair! ❤️
Remember our little Ninja Turtle?
This is Chuck after the wonderful folks at BARC shaved off that horrible shell of matted hair.
Look at his face! Look at those ears!
Underneath all that neglected hair was a little three-year-old dog who deserved so much better.
Chuck came to us following a cruelty confiscation. And unfortunately, his problems didn't end when the hair came off. He's also tested positive for heartworms.
We're raising funds to cover his basic veterinary expenses first, and then we'll tackle the cost of his heartworm treatment.
He's got a long road ahead of him, but at least now he's getting the care he needs.

❤️ Tobe Turner — Another Trip to the Vet, Another Bill to Pay!

This is Tobe on his way to the veterinarian last week.

He doesn't know anything about veterinary bills, heartworm tests, or how much it costs to get a rescue dog healthy. He just knows he's going for a ride.

Unfortunately, Tobe is one of eight dogs we've recently taken into our rescue who tested positive for heartworms. Eight!

And before we can even begin tackling the expense of heartworm treatment, we have to cover their basic veterinary care.

Tobe has already been to the veterinarian, but we still need help paying those expenses. Once we've gotten his basic vetting covered, we'll start a separate fundraiser for his heartworm treatment.

We're going to take this one step at a time, one dog at a time. And we're hoping you'll follow along as we get Tobe through it.

If you can spare a few dollars toward his veterinary bills, we'd be awfully grateful. Every little bit helps us get closer to taking care of this first expense.

❤️ **Meet Leo. He's Been Through a Lot, and Now He Needs a Home.**

This is Leo's photograph from BARC, Houston's city shelter.

Underneath all that shaggy, matted hair was a little dog who needed someone to give him a chance.

We brought Leo into our rescue, and unfortunately, we discovered that he was heartworm-positive.

The good news? **Leo has already undergone his heartworm treatment!** ❤️

The not-so-good news? We still have to pay for it.

Heartworm treatment is expensive, especially when you're caring for so many dogs with medical needs. We don't regret spending the money on Leo for one second, but we could certainly use some help replenishing those funds.

And there's something else we'd love to find for Leo.

**A forever home.**

We've taken care of getting him the medical treatment he needed. Now we'd love to see him find a family of his own.

❤️ Because of You.

There's a special page in our new 2027 calendar called "Because of You." And honestly, it might be my favorite page of all.

These are dogs who might not have had a chance without the people who support our rescue.

❤️ Chewy and Jasper both had heartworms and needed expensive treatment.

❤️ Sweet Pea is a biter. She probably wouldn't have survived in a shelter, but she has a safe place with us.

❤️ Basil has a bum leg, but that certainly doesn't make him any less deserving of love and care.

❤️ Gucci has serious skin problems that require ongoing attention.

And these are just a few of the dogs you've helped us save.

Some needed expensive medical treatment. Some needed a place where they could be safe. Others simply needed someone willing to give them a chance.

You made that possible.

Our 2027 calendar is filled with wonderful photographs of dogs belonging to our followers, along with special pages remembering dogs we've lost and celebrating dogs whose lives you've helped change.

The calendars are $25 each, and the proceeds will help us replenish funds spent caring for dogs who needed us, including some who are no longer with us.

We're hoping to sell all 250 calendars, and we'd love for you to have one.

Incoming!!!!
Say hello to Chuck Barkley. He's just three years old, and this is his intake photograph from BARC, Houston's city shelter.
Take a look at his back. That thick, solid-looking covering isn't a turtle shell. It's his own terribly matted hair.
I told someone I should have named him Leonardo or Raphael after the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. But Chuck Barkley it is!
It's hard to imagine how long he must have gone without proper grooming to end up looking like this.
Chuck came to us following a cruelty confiscation, and as if he hasn't already been through enough, he's also tested positive for heartworms.
