There’s a reason Green Bottle Blues never seem to go out of style.

Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens, better known as the Green Bottle Blue, pretty much checks all the boxes. Gorgeous blue legs, a bright orange abdomen, great feeding responses, impressive webbing, and they’re usually out where you can actually enjoy looking at them.

They’re also fairly fast growers, so you get to watch those colors really start to develop without waiting approximately half your natural lifespan.

Beautiful, active, and always ready to redecorate their enclosure with an unreasonable amount of webbing. It’s easy to see why GBBs continue to be a hobby favorite.

You can find ours over at TyDyeExotic.com. And remember, tonight, September 27th at 11:45 PM is the deadline to get your order in if you want it shipped before our moving pause begins!

If you’re a fan of true spiders and impressive webbing, Kukulcania arizonica, better known as the Black Hole Spider, is definitely one worth appreciating.

Native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico, these velvety dark spiders can reach around 2 to 3 inches and create some seriously cool homes. They build funnel-shaped webs tucked into crevices, with silk radiating outward from the entrance, giving them that fitting “black hole” name.

Females can also live for 10+ years, which is pretty impressive for a true spider.

They may spend a lot of time hiding in their little silk caves, but apparently when your house looks this cool, you don’t need to leave it very often.

The countdown is officially on! This weekend is your last chance to get orders in and guarantee they ship before Ty Dye Exotics makes the big move to Tucson.

Anything placed after this weekend will be held safely until shipping resumes October 19th from our new facility.

So if you’re anything like me and patience has never exactly been your strongest quality, now is probably the time to grab those must-haves you’ve been eyeing.
After that, the bugs are packing their tiny imaginary suitcases and heading west!

Sometimes the enclosure deserves to look just as good as what’s living inside it.

Our Tarantula Cribs Small Orange Slider is a Ty Dye Exotics collaboration featuring the quality Tarantula Cribs design you know, with a little extra Ty Dye personality. At 6” x 4” x 4”, it’s a great compact option for smaller terrestrial inverts while still giving you plenty of room to create a nice little setup.

And if you’ve been thinking about grabbing one, keep our upcoming move in mind! Orders need to be placed by 11:45 PM on September 27 to ship before our shipping pause.

After that, shipping will resume October 19 from our brand-new Tucson facility.

Grammostola pulchra, most likely actually Grammostola quirogai in the hobby, is loved for that deep, velvety black appearance that only gets better as they mature.

Add in their generally calm nature and impressive adult size, and it’s pretty easy to understand why these spiders have remained such a favorite in the hobby.

They may take their sweet time growing, because apparently perfection can’t be rushed, but watching that little brown sling slowly transform into a gorgeous jet-black tarantula is half the fun.

Sometimes simple really is hard to beat, check out our current inventory at TyDyeExotic.com and use promo code theraphosa10 for an extra 10% off your order.

So today I wanted to talk about a personal favorite of mine, Sericopelma sp. “Santa Catalina.”

These beautiful, underrated tarantulas check so many of the boxes keepers look for, yet somehow they still manage to fly under the radar. They reach a decent size, grow quickly, tend to be fairly docile, have fantastic feeding responses, and develop some really beautiful patterning as they grow.

This young male decided to give me a little run for my money while I was working with him, but even with all that attitude, the worst thing he did was leave me a little present on his way out.

Apparently, if you can’t bite the hand that feeds you, pooping on it is a reasonable backup plan.

We’ve officially outgrown our space, which is a pretty exciting problem to have!

Thanks to all of your support, Ty Dye Exotics is packing up the bugs and heading west. We’re moving from Houston, Texas to a brand-new facility in Tucson, Arizona, where we’ll have more room to grow and take Ty Dye Exotics into its next chapter.

Of course, moving an entire invert business takes a little coordination, so here’s what you need to know.
Shipping will pause September 30 through October 18.
We only have three shipping days left before the move:
September 22,
September 23, and September 28.

If you want your order shipped before the pause, make sure it’s placed by 11:45 PM on September 27.

You can still place orders while we’re moving! They’ll simply be held safely and begin shipping October 19, in the order they were received, straight from our new Tucson facility.

We seriously couldn’t have reached this point without you guys. Thank you for supporting our little bug business and helping us grow into something that now requires us to pack up an unreasonable number of spiders and move them across state lines.

As always, if you have any questions about an order or shipping timeline, feel free to reach out!

There’s something especially cool about getting to witness the next generation of an animal you already find fascinating.

Centipede mothers are surprisingly dedicated when it comes to their babies, carefully curling around their eggs and young to protect them during those vulnerable early stages.

It’s a side of these animals most people never get to see, especially when their reputation usually begins and ends with “fast, venomous, and way too many legs.”

Maybe they won’t be winning any Mother’s Day cards anytime soon, but you have to give these moms a little credit.

The third Typhochlaena seladonia from this trio was gone before I even finished editing this video, but Brazilian Jewels are way too cool not to share anyway.

These little dwarf trapdoor tarantulas are seriously fascinating at every stage of life. As they grow, those incredible colors and patterns start to develop, eventually giving them the jewel-like appearance that earned them their common name.

They’re also a species you don’t come across nearly as often as some other tarantulas. Their egg sacs tend to be smaller, so there simply aren’t as many spiderlings produced at a time.

Tiny, colorful, and living behind their own little trapdoor. It’s pretty easy to understand why Typhochlaena seladonia has become such an iconic species in the hobby.

There’s just something about Acanthophrynus coronatus that makes you stop and take a closer look.

Those ridiculously long legs, the tiny little body, and the way they move make them look like something that wandered straight out of a science fiction movie.

They may look a little intimidating at first, but once you actually take a minute to watch them, they’re incredibly fascinating.
And I mean, come on. When your legs are approximately 97% of your entire existence, it’s pretty hard not to stand out.

Definitely one of those weird little creatures that reminds me why I love inverts so much.
