(329)

Schnauzer Rescue of Texas (SRT) exists for the sole purpose of ensuring all Schnauzers and their friends we assist make it to their forever - and perfect - home! Three friends, with different skills and compatible styles, and with a strong, common desire to save lost, neglected and abandoned Schnauzers, pooled their resources and worked together to form Schnauzer Rescue of Texas (SRT). The three D

irectors leveraged a collective fifteen years of rescue experience to create an organization with one singular purpose – putting Schnauzers in loving homes. SRT was organized with a belief that responsible rescue can be rewarding and fun…and can match loving homes with countless Schnauzers when everyone pulls in a common direction. A leap of faith was taken knowing there would be those who would volunteer their time, their resources and their homes to help create a growing network where Schnauzers could be loved, and healed if necessary, as they await that perfect individual, couple or family to bring them to their forever home. No one in the organization is compensated for their efforts with the exception of the feel-good compensation of knowing the impact that committed individuals can have when focused on a common cause! Every penny we receive goes toward our unwavering mission. Whether as an adopter, a volunteer or by helping us financially, we hope you’ll experience the energy of being part of Schnauzer Rescue of Texas.

Jeremy | 11 year old | 13 lb | male schnauzer | dog friendly

Meet Jeremy! A good Samaritan contacted the rescue about a skinny, matted, scruffy white schnauzer that had been found collapsed in a greenbelt, malnourished and barely able to move. His finders took care of him while trying to find his owners, but eventually reached out to WSRH for help when no owners were found. They immediately had him to the vet for a checkup and found that he is estimated to be about 11 years old and needed a dental cleaning. The dogtor heard a heart murmur so first Jeremy saw the cardiologist, who said his heart changes are "not of immediate concern,” prescribed some medication, and cleared him to schedule his dental. Jeremy’s dental went well and he now is ready for his forever home.

Jeremy is a man who knows what he wants. He likes comfy dog beds, cozy kennel caves, and yummy food. He will bark when he needs to go outside and does well on a leash. He also does well with his furry foster siblings but doesn’t need to have a furry friend in his furever home.

He also knows what he doesn’t want. He does not like surprises, so he would be best with an all-adult home. Any visiting children will need to be supervised with him.

Jeremy has been vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. His adoption donation is $250 through WSRH and includes a minimum of 90 days of Vetmedin for his murmur, 6 months’ heartworm preventation.

Stuart | 1 year old schnauzer wannabe

Sugarland, TX

Meet Stuart!

Stuart is a fun-loving 1 year old, 40-pound schnauzer wannabe pup searching for a foster or forever home. He’s house and kennel trained, rides well in the car, and loves other dogs. Like many young pups, he still needs some help with leash manners, but he’s eager to learn and ready for adventure.

Originally adopted from the Pasadena shelter, Stuart was sadly returned simply for being an energetic puppy. Scared and alone, he was lucky we accidentally tagged him for rescue. Now he has a second chance at the life he deserves. If you’re looking for a goofy, affectionate companion with lots of personality, Stuart is your guy!

We have a survivor!

While Callie is not completely out of the woods yet, tonight she got to leave the hospital and head to a volunteer’s home to continue recovering. She’s still symptomatic and not eating on her own yet, but her wagging tail, sweet personality, and loving spirit are back. We are so hopeful this little fighter is going to make it!

Parvo is one of the deadliest diseases affecting puppies in Texas, especially those under six months old or not fully vaccinated. The virus spreads easily through contaminated soil, f***s, shoes, and surfaces, and can quickly become life-threatening without immediate treatment. The good news is that parvo is also highly preventable. Puppies should begin vaccines at 6–8 weeks old and continue boosters through at least 16 weeks. Until fully vaccinated, they should avoid dog parks, pet stores, public grass areas, and unknown dogs. Early vaccination, good sanitation, and limiting exposure save lives.

Callie is proof that with quick action, support, financial backing and a lot of love, these puppies can have a fighting chance. Thanks to the 60 people that donated we were able to raise $5000 dollars covering more than 50% of her $8626 bill! What an amazing show of support. Per our vet partners this years parvo strain is more aggressive than ever seen before. Plasma infusions made all the difference for Callie after she regressed once off the feeding tube.

Meet Bowen, an adorable 11-pound 2-year-old bundle of fluff who’s probably mostly poodle with a little extra special something mixed in! Since leaving the scary shelter behind, Bowen has truly blossomed into the sweet, loving boy he was always meant to be. He’s a total snuggle bug and will happily become your loyal shadow—if you’re searching for a true lap dog, Bowen is your perfect match. Bonus: he absolutely loves curling up in a cozy Tempur-Pedic bed right alongside his humans! Bowen does have a few charming quirks. He’s a bit shy and nervous around strangers, especially on walks, where he might bark and then quickly hide behind his foster’s legs. Because of this, apartment living isn’t the best fit for him. But don’t worry—he adores other dogs and would be happiest with a furry playmate to romp with in a yard where he can burn off all that puppy energy. He’s both house trained and crate trained (though the crate isn’t his favorite spot), and through it all, Bowen remains one happy, joyful little guy. If you think Bowen could be the perfect addition to your family, just click on the Adopt tab, complete your application, and ask for this lovable pup by name. Let Bowen bring endless love and laughter into your life!

Meet Thumper in Houston, TX

Thumper is a handsome liver-and-pepper Miniature Schnauzer, approximately four years old and weighing in at about 12 pounds. With his natural ears and docked tail, he’s as charming as he is distinctive.

Thumper is settling in beautifully in his foster home and has already shown himself to be a wonderful companion. He gets along well with other dogs, enjoys car rides, and is calm and cooperative during grooming and bath time. One of his favorite things is curling up in his foster’s lap for some quiet cuddle time.

He is both house-trained and crate-trained, and he walks nicely on a leash; though he can be a bit of an escape artist, so a secure environment will be important.

Thumper can be a little protective of the women in his home, so he would do best in a female-only household or in a home with male adopters where love and attention is established from the beginning.

With the right home, Thumper will make a loyal, loving, and devoted companion.

Interested? Apply online under the Adopt tab, and complete your application asking for Thumper.

Pupdate - While pulling records for Jack a gentleman overheard. We are happy to share that he is one of Jack's stops while he is roaming and knows him well. He offered to adopt Jack and already knows/loves him. Jack is in a forever home that will appreciate him and make sure he is safe.

Transport and/or Foster Needed Port Neches (Beaumont area) to Houston (if no local foster is found)

This gent (named Jack) is approximately 10 years old although he doesn’t act it. He is neutered, has natural ears and a cropped tail. So far he is doing well with older kids. A kind neighbor has been catching him when the owner lets him roam and forgets he is outside. Fortunately she has agreed to let him be rehomed to someone that would take better care of him.

If you can transport please text 978-270-7569. If you can foster please send an email to [email protected]

Urgent Help Needed for a Sweet, Sick Puppy

We have a tiny girl, just 7 lbs, who urgently needs our help. Since yesterday, she’s been battling a severe case of Parvo—her test came back strongly positive. While she remains alert, she is suffering from intense vomiting and needs immediate veterinary care. Her initial treatment at Vergi will cost about $2,000.

Update Sunday pm - stable on a feeding tube for now. White blood cell count low but blood work is improving!

Update (Monday morning): Callie is alert and active. She isn’t eating yet and is still experiencing some diarrhea, but the team is in the process of transitioning her to oral medications, and it’s looking very promising that she’ll pull through!

Because she isn’t able to be released yet, our estimated total has increased to $6,000. To everyone who has donated—your financial support, kind messages, and well wishes mean more to us than we can express. Thank you so much for being part of her recovery.

Links for Zelle and Venmo on our website or use [email protected]

Direct donations can be called in to Vergi 24/7 at (713) 932-9589

Let’s pray we can get her stabilized. She will need a foster or adopter once she is released from the ER. If you are willing and able please let us know at [email protected]

Another great update. Remember “Flash”?

Flash is now Pushkin. After 3 weeks of being afraid of my husband, he is now his lap dog. BTW, we took him (Pushkin, not Bob) to the vet on Wednesday. They were very impressed that you took care of his dental issues and cleaned his teeth. They said it's not typical for rescue organizations.
He is doing really well. He has three 30 min walks a day and loves them. Not a big fan of grooming though. Yet.

We love hearing from former adopters. You might have noticed we often take in dogs in need that aren’t Schnauzers. We have a soft spot for other non-shedding breeds. Snooki’s is living her best life. This is what her new parents have to say:

She graduated puppy school and is proud to be able to sit, lay down, give us her paw, jump up, and practice emergency recall now. We love her so much! Thank you all for all you do :)
