🚨 URGENT FUNDRAISER FOR NALA & SPIKE — WE HAVE THREE DAYS. 🚨

We desperately need help securing boarding for Nala and Spike while we figure out where they can safely go.

Nala and Spike were pulled from BARC after a foster committed to keeping them until adoption. Based on that commitment, we said yes and saved their lives.

Now we have been given three days’ notice that they need to leave.

There has been no emergency. No unexpected life change. No crisis that made continuing to foster impossible. The only thing that changed was their mind.

The Foster has threatened that if we don’t take them back by Saturday, they will be taken to Barc or animal control will be called

We are devastated.

Over the past several weeks, we have had numerous fosters back out of their commitments, forcing dogs back into our rescue facility. We are now at maximum capacity. We cannot magically create two open kennels with three days’ notice.

When someone commits to fostering until adoption, we rely on that commitment when deciding whether we can save a dog. Three days is simply not enough time to find another committed foster for two dogs, arrange boarding, or safely make room at an already-full rescue.

Right now, our immediate goal is to get Nala and Spike into boarding and buy them time while we work desperately to find another foster or make a safe place for them at the rescue.

They already escaped BARC once. They should not be put at risk again because a commitment made to them was broken.

🙏 PLEASE HELP NALA & SPIKE.

Every donation toward boarding gives us another day to figure this out. If you cannot donate, PLEASE SHARE. We need as many eyes on these two as possible.

🌧️ WHEN IT RAINS, IT POURS. CRICKET NEEDS A FOSTER — AGAIN. 🌧️

Remember Cricket?

The sweet girl who was living in the woods with people experiencing homelessness, because they were the only people who stepped up to care for her?

We posted her. Someone saw her story and committed to fostering her. Based on that commitment, we agreed to bring Cricket into our rescue and got her off the street.

And now that foster has “changed their mind.”

People need to understand the position this puts rescues in. When you tell us you will foster a dog, we make decisions based on your word. Cricket was brought into our care because we were told she had a committed foster home. Had we known that commitment wouldn’t be honored, we could not have agreed to take her.

So now what are we supposed to do?

Put her back in the woods?

We have no open kennel space at the rescue. We cannot manufacture another kennel. We cannot manufacture another foster home.

And unfortunately, Cricket isn’t the only dog this has happened to. Multiple fosters have backed out of their commitments over the last couple of months, filling every bit of backup space we normally try desperately to keep available for situations exactly like this.

This is why we say fostering is a commitment. When a rescue agrees to save a dog based on your promise to foster, changing your mind doesn’t make the dog disappear. It simply leaves the rescue scrambling to figure out where that dog is supposed to go.

And right now, that dog is Cricket.

🚨 CRICKET URGENTLY NEEDS A NEW FOSTER IN HOUSTON. 🚨

She is approximately 40 lbs, incredibly sweet, and has already survived more than enough.

Please, if you can foster Cricket, message Sunnyside Street Dogs ASAP.

And if you can’t foster, SHARE HER. Cricket finally made it out of those woods. We refuse to let that be where her story ends.

🚨 EMERGENCY FOSTERS NEEDED — NALA & SPIKE HAVE THREE DAYS 🚨

We have been given three days’ notice to find somewhere for Nala and Spike to go.

When we pulled these two dogs from the euthanasia list, we did so because we had a foster who committed to keeping them until adoption. Without that commitment, we would never have tagged two dogs with no backup placement available.

Now that commitment is ending with virtually no notice, and we simply do not have two open kennels at the rescue. We cannot manufacture kennel space. We cannot manufacture foster homes.

We always try to have backup plans for emergencies. But unfortunately, over the last couple of months, we have had multiple fosters back out of their commitments and return dogs, one after another. Every backup kennel and placement we had has already been filled by dogs whose fosters did the same thing.

And now Nala and Spike are the ones paying the price.

They are already on our transport list, and we are actively working to get them moved. We just need someone willing to give them a safe place to land until that happens.

WE NEED EMERGENCY FOSTERS NOW. If you can foster Nala, Spike, or both, please message Sunnyside Street Dogs immediately.

If you cannot foster, PLEASE SHARE. We have three days to find a solution for two dogs we promised would never end up back where they started.
