🐱💙 Is Your Cat Living With Chronic Pain?

September is Chronic Pain Awareness Month, making it the perfect time to take a closer look at subtle signs of pain in our feline friends.

Cats are experts at hiding discomfort. Instead of crying out, you may notice small changes like:

🐾 Sleeping more or playing less
🐾 Hesitating to jump onto furniture
🐾 Having trouble getting up or going downstairs
🐾 Less grooming or a messy coat
🐾 Becoming more withdrawn or irritable
🐾 Avoiding stairs, cat trees, or favorite spots
🐾 Changes in litter box habits

🦴 Osteoarthritis (arthritis) is common in cats, especially as they get older, but chronic pain doesn't have to be a normal part of aging.

💜 Solensia® is a monthly injection specifically designed to help control osteoarthritis pain in cats. By targeting a key protein involved in transmitting pain signals, Solensia can help reduce arthritis pain and improve mobility.

When cats are more comfortable, they may be able to get back to being more active, playful, social, and comfortable in their everyday lives. 🥰

If you've noticed your cat isn't moving like they used to, don't assume it's simply "because they're getting older." Let's talk about their comfort and whether Solensia may be a good option for them.

🐾💙 Helping Pets Live More Comfortably with Chronic Pain 💙🐾

Did you know pets can experience chronic pain just like people do? Arthritis and other painful conditions can make everyday activities more difficult, but there are many ways we can help improve your pet’s comfort and quality of life.

Here are a few ways to help:

🩺 Regular veterinary checkups
Routine exams can help identify subtle signs of pain before they become more severe.

💊 Pain management
Depending on your pet’s condition, your veterinarian may recommend medications or treatments to help control pain and inflammation.

🐱 Consider monthly pain-control injections
For pets with osteoarthritis, treatments such as Solensia® for cats and Librela® for dogs may help manage chronic arthritis pain and improve mobility.

⚖️ Maintain a healthy weight
Keeping your pet at a healthy weight can reduce stress on painful joints and make movement easier.

🛏️ Make their environment comfortable
Provide soft, supportive bedding and make food, water, and litter boxes easy to access. Pet ramps or steps can also help reduce the need for jumping.

🚶 Keep them moving—gently!
Appropriate, low-impact activity can help maintain muscle strength and joint mobility. Your veterinarian can help determine what level of exercise is right for your pet.

❤️ Watch for changes
Pay attention to changes in behavior, activity, grooming, appetite, sleep, or mobility. Small changes can be important clues that your pet may be uncomfortable.

Most importantly, pain isn't something your pet should simply have to live with. If you think your pet may be experiencing chronic pain, talk with your veterinary team about options to help them feel their best.

Investing in preventive care helps ensure our pets live their best lives, improves their bond with us and may lead to significant cost savings. Annual veterinary check-ups are a cornerstone of preventive care, as they ensure pets are up to date on vaccinations and identify early risks for common diseases. https://pbxx.it/KcCTcx

🐾 Bloodwork: An Important Part of Preventive Pet Care! 🐾

Your pet may look and act perfectly healthy—but some health problems can develop silently before you notice any changes at home. That’s why routine bloodwork is an important part of preventive care, especially as pets get older.

🩺 What can bloodwork help us monitor?
• Kidney and liver function
• Blood sugar levels
• Red and white blood cell health
• Electrolytes and other important body functions
• Early signs of disease that may not yet cause symptoms

Routine bloodwork also gives us a baseline for your pet’s normal values, making it easier to spot subtle changes over time.

💙 Early detection can make a big difference! Finding problems sooner may allow us to begin treatment earlier and help your pet enjoy a longer, healthier life.

Ask us at your pet’s next wellness visit whether routine bloodwork is recommended for your furry family member! 🐶🐱
