A note from Dr. Vaughan on July 16th, 2026:
“I’m retiring this week and passing the Directorship on to Dr. Kim Mahoney. Dr. Mahoney is seasoned in both feline medicine and surgery. She has trained with me extensively at FHTC, and she’s ready to lead the program and continue to take care of your patients. She’s working with the best team we’ve ever had. I appreciate each one for their compassion for their patients, their professionalism and courtesy toward clients, and their constant support of the veterinarians.
It has been my privilege to work alongside the veterinarians in this community for 42 years, both in general and then special-interest (hyperthyroidism) practice. I’ve appreciated the relationships I’ve had with so many cats, as well as the conversations I’ve shared with the infinitely interesting people who choose to live with them. There are so many stories; each of us has one.
I’m going to take a few weeks over the summer to sit in the grass, climb some rocks, and look at the stars. Then, I’ll work a few Mondays a month to ease the transition, help with the caseload, and spread as much information as I can about thyroid disease in cats.”
