Like many draft horses, Atlas is a gentle giant who quickly befriends riders of all sizes—young and old—with his patience and kind demeanor. He is an 18-year-old drum horse and the namesake of Atlas Riding School in Estacada, Oregon. Over the years, Atlas has helped riders of all ages and abilities enjoy the world of horseback riding. Charming looks and a calm presence make him a favorite among barn interns and volunteers, riding students, and visitors alike.

On the night of May 29, 2026, Atlas became seriously ill (colic) and had to be driven almost two hours to Oregon State University veterinary school for emergency treatment. Thanks to the quick action of Jen, neighbors, the local vet, and the dedicated team at OSU, Atlas is showing signs of improvement. However, this big guy may need a few more days of treatment before he can return home, and the costs for his care are adding up quickly.

Funds raised will help cover the cost of vet bills with OSU and any follow-up care that may be needed once Atlas gets home. He has given so much to our community, and now it’s our turn to show up for him. Please consider donating to help offset the cost of Atlas’s vet bills and support his recovery. 2026 Atlas Riding School Summer Camps
New Location: 47225 SE Clausen Rd, Estacada, OR

Our camps focus on fun, confidence, and connection with horses. Campers learn groundwork, grooming, tacking, riding, and basic barn care, plus nature walks, crafts, rest/play time, and visits from guest presenters. Mixed‑ability, child‑led, and welcoming to kids with different needs—just reach out if you’re unsure whether it’s a good fit.

**Camp Details**
• Monday–Friday, 9am–3pm
• Optional care 7:30am–5:30pm (+$100/week, flexible timing)
• Ages 6+
• $500/week
• Discounts: 10% sibling, 10% multi‑week, limited sliding‑scale spots
• Full payment at registration unless you request a payment plan
• 100% refund up to 30 days before camp (or later if we fill your spot)

Today is our last day of lessons before the big move, so I thought I'd share some images of the past few weeks. It's been such a bittersweet time and we will miss so much about this place!

But, we are also very excited for the new place where the horses will have pastures to play in and we will have a round pen to teach you groundwork. And the trails, everyone is thrilled about the endless trail opportunities!

So, while this next week will be a busy one, we know that together we can make this new place so much better than the one we've all come to know and love!

We are moving!
We will be closing the barn for the last week of February, and when we reopen on March 1st, we’ll be welcoming everyone to our brand-new location.

If this feels sudden, it was for us too. While the idea had been on our minds, recent negligence by the owner of our current property has put the safety of our horses at risk. At the end of the day, we have to put the well-being of our horses and people first.

The good news: the new place is beautiful, with trails and pasture turnout that we’re really excited about. It is a bit of a longer drive, but we’ll be working on lengthening lesson times to help make that adjustment worthwhile.

If you’re curious to see the new barn, we’re hosting a work party on February 10th at 10:00am at:47225 SE Clausen Rd, Estacada (as you can see in the picture, the barn entrance is actually on Harvey Road.)

Thank you for your patience and support during this transition, we truly believe this move sets us up for a safer, happier future.
