Calm, gentle grooming isn’t about having a van in your driveway. It’s about helping each dog feel as comfortable as possible. 🐾

That can mean calm handling, a quiet environment, breaks when a dog needs them, and a groomer who pays attention to their body language. Every dog is different, and what feels reassuring for one may not be right for another.

At Green Acres, grooming happens in-house, with people our daycare and boarding guests already know, in a place that’s familiar to them. The low-stress approach is getting more attention, and caring for dogs this way has always mattered to us.

A great day doesn’t look the same for every dog. 🐾

Age, health, temperament, play style, arousal level, and past experiences all shape what activities feel safe, enjoyable, and enriching.

That’s why our care is individualized. A young, energetic dog may thrive with short bursts of active play, while a senior dog may prefer gentle exploring, sniffing, and more frequent rest. A social dog might enjoy a compatible playgroup, while a dog new to group activities may do best with a smaller, calmer introduction. Dogs who become highly aroused may benefit from quieter play partners, structured activities, and intentional breaks to help them reset.

Our team watches how each dog is participating and adjusts the plan along the way: tailoring groupings, modifying activities, and building in downtime when needed. It’s all part of our holistic approach to caring for the whole dog: body, mind, and social needs.

Tears do more than keep a dog’s eyes moist. They help nourish the eye’s surface, wash away small particles, and support the eye’s natural defenses.

During everyday handling and grooming, take a moment to notice what’s normal for your dog. Clear, comfortable-looking eyes are reassuring: but a new change deserves attention. Contact your veterinarian if you notice:

• New squinting or holding an eye partly closed
• Discharge that persists or keeps returning
• Redness
• Pawing at or rubbing the eyes

These signs can have many causes, including irritation or injury, and an eye problem can worsen quickly. Avoid using leftover medication or human eye products unless your veterinarian specifically recommends them.

Cleaning is more than making a space look tidy: contact time matters. 🧼

In group dog care, removing hair, dirt, and other debris comes first. Then, when a disinfectant is appropriate, it generally needs to keep the surface visibly wet for the exact contact time listed on its label to work as intended.

Our care routine includes careful attention to kennels and high-touch surfaces, following product directions, rinsing and drying when required, maintaining good ventilation, and keeping dogs away from treated areas until they’re safe for use.

This behind-the-scenes work is part of our hands-on, holistic approach: creating a clean, thoughtfully managed true dog environment where K-9s can rest, play, sniff, and socialize naturally: not just a human-friendly space.

Adolescence isn’t a straight line: and that’s okay. 🐾

Many dogs go through this developmental stage between roughly 6 and 24 months, though timing varies by breed and individual. During adolescence, attention, impulse control, confidence, and social behavior can shift as the brain continues developing.

The best support is patience paired with consistency:

• Keep household cues and boundaries clear and predictable.
• Reward the behaviors you want to see.
• Offer constructive outlets like sniffing, training games, food puzzles, appropriate exercise, and supervised play.
• Build in plenty of rest: tired puppies can become overwhelmed puppies.
