Meet Lola! This sweet (almost) 2 year old pup is a vibrant, fun-loving gal who is ready to find a family that matches her work hard, play hard energy! She's a BIG fan of play time and while a little shy, she's a pro at capturing hearts, like Shelter Veterinary Services team member Tessa!

"I fell in love with Lola the moment I saw her. She is such a special gal with a heart of gold! She is shy to start, but with patience, love, and some string cheese, she becomes your best friend! She has grown so much while in our care and has been the perfect playtime buddy (and snuggle bug). Lola also loves to give you plenty of kisses to make sure you know she loves you. Run don’t walk to adopt Lola!!"

Due to Lola's energy levels, we are recommending a home with children 10 years or older. We do think she could do well with other pups, so if you have a resident dog please bring them in for a visit! Interested in Lola? Stop by our Leslie A. Malone Center and see if she's the right fit for you 🥰

Trixie is still learning the ropes of indoor life, but she’s catching on more every day 🏡💛 She just wants to be close to her people—snuggled up, soaking in affection, and giving it right back.

She absolutely loves cuddling and affection, and our animal care team is totally in love with her 🥹💛 She loves chicken treats is as soft as a chinchilla!

Trixie may do well with another social dog, but she’s looking for a home without small kids so she can settle in at her own pace and feel safe while she learns.

If you’re looking for a gentle, loving shadow of a dog who just wants to be by your side… Trixie might be your girl 💛

Humane Colorado cares for over 47,000 pets each year, providing them with a safe space, tailored behavioral support, specialized veterinary care, and essential nourishment thanks in part to the ongoing support of Hill’s Pet Nutrition Food, Shelter, & Love program, which provides science-led nutrition to feed the pets in our care, and at more than 1000 other shelters across North America.

To keep the transition from shelter to home a bit easier, each dog and cat who is adopted from us is provided with a bag of the very same Hill's Science Diet we feed here at Humane Colorado! Because nutrition matters as much to our furry friends as it does to us, we want to start each happy ending with our best paws forward 🐾

Don’t let kennel behavior fool you 🐾

Shelter life is loud, stressful, and overwhelming 😔—and some dogs cope by barking or reacting. But that’s not who they are outside of it. Give them a chance to decompress, and you’ll see their true selves ✨

Kovu has already proven that 💛 In a foster home, he was everything you’d want—housetrained ✔️ social ✔️ sweet ✔️ mellow ✔️ affectionate ✔️ with great manners and solid basic commands 👏

He’s looking for a home without young kids or cats, and someone willing to see past the kennel and into the dog he really is 🥹🐶🤍

3-year-old Princess is currently in her turtle era 🐢 but don’t let the shell fool you 💕 Shelter life can be overwhelming, and sometimes the sweetest cats just need a little extra time to feel safe.

Underneath that cozy “shell” is a loving girl who’s just waiting for someone to show her the world isn’t so scary. The right adopter will see past the hiding and give her the patience she needs to truly shine ✨

Give Princess the chance to come out of her shell for good 💗

Meet Trixie! This sweet cattle dog mix is 2 years old and is looking for her perfect family 🥰 In her previous life she was primarily living outside, so she will need an adopter who can give her patience and kindness while she figures out how to live indoors. While she has been with us, our staff has worked hard to help her come out of her shell and gain confidence, and during that time, many staff members have fallen in love, here's what some of our animal care team members had to say!

"Trixie is the sweetest girl and happiest when she’s curled up beside you soaking up affection. She has so much love to give, and spending time with her always makes your day a little brighter. She loves chicken treats, squeezing into your lap whenever possible, and simply being close to her people. We can’t wait for Trixie to find someone to love as much as we love her."

Due to Trixie's fear, we think she could benefit from having another friendly and social pup in the home to help boost her confidence. We are also requiring any children in the home to be at least 10 years old. If you have room in your heart and your home for this sweet girl, stop by our Leslie A. Malone Center to visit with her ASAP!

What's a snow day with out some snow dogs? 🤪 Our pups are having a BLAST romping through the snow today 🌨️❄️

All these cuties are available for adoption at our Leslie A. Malone Center in Denver, but would love some snowy play time with you at home 🤭

Today we’re celebrating the passage of Humane Colorado’s priority legislation House Bill 26-1198—an exciting step forward towards increasing access to veterinary care in Colorado! This new law allows unused veterinary prescription medications to be donated to shelters and veterinary practices, where they can be safely re-prescribed to pet owners in need at no cost. It’s a practical, compassionate solution that reduces waste while expanding access to care. For families facing financial barriers, this new law could mean the difference between delaying treatment and getting a pet the help they need right away. For shelters and veterinarians, it provides another tool to support the animals and communities we serve every day. Thank you to our bill sponsors Senator Lisa Cutter, State Senator Rod Pelton, Asst. Minority Leader Representative Ty Winter , and Representative Karen McCormick; and to the advocates, lawmakers, veterinarians, and organizations who worked to make this possible!

Furry Scurry was an incredible success and we were so happy to see so many of the adoptable dogs who joined us find their homes… but it was hard having to bring Winter back with us at the end of the day.

This sweet, well-behaved girl truly deserves the best. Let’s find Winter the home she’s been waiting for ❄️🏡 Meet her at our Leslie A. Malone Center.

We are grateful to the Animal Assistance Foundation for their contribution to our programs and services. This year, the Animal Assistance Foundation’s $20,000 gift, designated to our Healthy Pets Plus program, helps lower the barrier to veterinary care, allowing us to provide high-quality care for pets in our community, and help owners who may be hesitant to pursue costly diagnostics get a better understanding of their pet’s medical needs and treatment plan.
