Sadly, if it couldn’t be worse than being dumped Mugsy Maplebottom’s mouth is just awful. His teeth are rotten and breath foul from all the bacteria. We will be getting him a much needed dental as well as vaccines, heartworm testing, prevention, f***l tested. The hits just keep coming for this little potatoe. Prayers he is not heartworm positive too. Our little rescue has big hearts but man this is going to be challenging both emotionally and financially.

No one will fail you again Mugsy!

So far we’ve raised enough to get his vaccines (which he received yesterday), neuter scheduled and his wishlist donations of shampoo and food to meet his daily needs thanks to all our very generous supporters. We can do this together!!

💔 He was brought to the vet to be euthanized… simply because his owner was moving.

Let that sink in for a moment.

How do you look into the eyes of a sweet, trusting dog and decide that his life is no longer worth saving because your circumstances have changed?

How does a dog who has spent his life loving his person suddenly become disposable?

Thankfully, Mugsy Maplebottom’s story didn’t end in that veterinary clinic. ❤️

Please welcome this precious 4-year-old, barely 20-pound little boy to Texas Cleft Pup Rescue. Mugsy has a cleft palate, and it appears he may have spent much of his life outside and without the care he deserved. We don’t know everything he has been through yet—but we know he deserves so much better.

And Mugsy? He is sweet. He is gentle. He has already met his foster family’s Frenchie girls and is settling in like the good boy he is. 🥹

His first experience with air conditioning was absolutely priceless… “This is niiiiiice!” 🥰

Now our job begins.

We need to get Mugsy to the veterinarian for a complete evaluation, get some much-needed nutrition into his little body, address his cleft palate and any other medical needs we uncover, and give him the chance to become the healthy, happy boy he was always meant to be.

He was left behind.

We refuse to leave him behind.

Only ONE thing could make us happier than Swayze getting adopted… Swayze getting adopted WITH BERNARD! 🥹😭❤️ These two boys are going to be lifelong brothers, and we couldn’t be more thrilled for them!

From the moment they met their new family, it was love at first sight. Both boys were so comfortable, so relaxed, and so completely at home—it was almost as if they already knew they had found their people. 🏡✨

Sweet Swayze, with his peaceful little soul, settled right into his new momma’s lap and soaked up every pet, snuggle, and ounce of love she had to give. 🥰 Meanwhile, Bernard wasted no time making himself comfortable! He scurried right up the stairs and promptly passed out on the couch with Eric. 😂💤 Talk about settling in quickly!

Emily is home all day and has all the time, patience, and love these boys need to learn, grow, and become the best canine citizens they can be. And Eric is already hard at work with his boys—learning the doggy door, exploring their new home, and, most importantly, discovering the BEST nap spots! 🐶❤️

Our hearts are absolutely overflowing for Swayze and Bernard. Knowing they get to grow up together, side by side, makes this adoption extra special. We can’t wait to watch their personalities blossom, see all the adventures they have, and hear about all the memories they create with their forever family. 🥹🐾

Bernard will be known as Bernard Bartholomew and Swayze will be Swayze Sarsippius
