Hey Folks, the weather is getting HOT HOT HOT. We want to remind everyone that heat stroke is a real thing for our furry friends. Please keep outside visits short and sweet, make sure they have shade and water and lots of breaks if you have to be outside. Also remember that the asphalt/pavement can easily burn their feet, if it's hot to you, it's definitely hot to them-remember they don't have shoes!

Warning Signs of Heatstroke
According to the AVMA Warm Weather Pet Safety guidelines, watch for these severe symptoms:
Excessive, frantic panting and heavy drooling
Abnormal gum or tongue color (bright red, purple, or pale)
Lethargy,
unsteadiness, or collapsing
Vomiting or bloody diarrhea

You can check out the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) website https://www.avma.org/resources-tools/pet-owners/petcare/warm-weather-pet-safety to look for more tips on what to do if you suspect that your dog has heat stress.
Do not hesitate to call, this is a very serious condition, that can occur quickly.

These two puppers have been part of the AHOC family now for 3 years! They are very sweet and so loved! It's time for a glow up! Baby Kit came to us and we knew something was wrong with his eyes, but with the help from our Ophthalmology friends down at CARE and a very dedicated and loving family, our little fox kitty is thriving! He still fits in his carrier from when we first had him in the hospital too!
