A client found this sweet baby running around Huntersville today and is looking for their owner! This sweet puppy is not microchipped, but did have a collar on.
If you think you know who this puppy belongs to, please reach out to us so we can put you in contact with the Good Samaritan who is holding them for now.

In July, the NMAH family will be expanding! Please welcome Dr. Brooke Hawkins

Dr. Hawkins grew up in the Metro Atlanta area and has known from a young age that she wanted to work with animals in some form or fashion. She attended the University of South Carolina, where she graduated Pre-Vet with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Science and a minor in Psychology in 2018 (Go C***s!). During her time at South Carolina, she was also a proud member of the Carolina Band, where she played piccolo for all four years. Although she initially planned to pursue a career in marine biology, she quickly discovered a passion for medicine during her first year of college and knew veterinary medicine was the perfect fit.
Before veterinary school, Dr. Hawkins worked full time as a veterinary assistant for four years and continued working in small animal practice throughout veterinary school, giving her more than eight years of hands-on experience in the veterinary field. She graduated Cum Laude from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine as a member of the Class of 2026 and was awarded a Certificate of Proficiency in Clinical Pathology during her clinical year.
Dr. Hawkins is passionate about client education and preventative care. She is Fear Free Certified and believes in using low-stress handling techniques to create a positive and comfortable experience for every patient. Her developing professional interests include internal medicine, preventative care, feline medicine, soft tissue surgery, and clinical pathology. She is particularly excited to continue learning more about ultrasonography and soft tissue surgery throughout her career. Known for her detail-oriented and thorough approach, Dr. Hawkins strives to provide compassionate, individualized care to every patient she sees.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Hawkins enjoys spending time with her husband, Caleb, trying new coffee shops and vineyards/breweries, running, watching movies, and spending time with her dog, Layla, and her two cats, Newt and Myrtle. She is also a bit of an adrenaline ju**ie and has enjoyed experiences including snow skiing, scuba diving, and even skydiving.

Wrigley is finally back on his feet! He broke four of the bones in his foot this winter. He was such a good boy for his cast changes, the team got to make them a little extra fun! Shout out to Alex, Jess and Dr. Crandall for making it possible.

📢 doctor spotlight ✨

Meet Dr. Doria Gilberg . Dr. Gilberg grew up in Virginia with her parents and twin sister (she is part of the third generation of twins in her family!). She received her undergraduate degree from Purdue University with a major in animal sciences. She was involved in research in a variety of topics ranging from international food safety to Autism Spectrum Disorder. She returned to Virginia for veterinary school to attend the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. In addition to earning her veterinary degree, she also pursued a Masters in Public Health. During vet school she was a foster coordinator for the student-run nonprofit rescue group, and she was also heavily involved in the food animal club.

Dr. Gilberg’s professional interests include internal medicine and cardiology. She looks forward to learning more about minimally-invasive surgery as well as diagnostic imaging such as ultrasonography and echocardiography.

In her free time, she enjoys traveling, golfing, and working out. While she had to make the trek back south to escape the wind and snow, she will forever be a Boilermaker at heart. You might catch her around town rocking her Purdue swag or notice her car covered in Purdue stickers. She lives with her sweet “foster fail” kitty named Tucker.
