☀️🐾 The Heat Is On, Huntersville! Keep Your Pets Safe This Week! 🐾☀️

With the heat index climbing into dangerous levels this week, it’s important to remember that if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for your furry family members.

Here are a few ways to keep your pets safe:
🐶 Walk your dog early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures are cooler.
🌡️ Avoid hot pavement—it can burn sensitive paw pads. If you can’t comfortably hold the back of your hand on the pavement for 7 seconds, it’s too hot for your pet.
💧 Always provide fresh, cool water and plenty of shade.
🏡 Keep pets indoors during the hottest part of the day whenever possible.
🚗 Never leave your pet in a parked vehicle, even for just a few minutes.
🐾 Watch for signs of heatstroke, including excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, bright red gums, or collapse.

Heatstroke is a medical emergency. If you think your pet is overheating, move them to a cool area, offer small amounts of water, and contact us immediately.

❤️ At LakeCross Veterinary Hospital, we’re here to help keep your pets healthy and safe all summer long.

📞 704-948-6300 If you have concerns about your pet or think they may be suffering from heat exhaustion or heatstroke, give us a call right away.

Stay cool and give your pets a little extra TLC this week! 🐕🐈☀️

☀️🐾 Summer Heat Reminder from LakeCross Veterinary Hospital 🐾☀️

The temperatures are rising here in Huntersville, and while we may enjoy the sunshine, the summer heat can become dangerous for our pets very quickly. 🌡️

Here are a few important reminders to help keep your furry family members safe this summer:

🐶 Avoid walks on hot pavement — if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws
💧 Always provide fresh, cool water
🏡 Limit outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the day
🚗 Never leave pets in a parked car — even for a minute
😎 Watch for signs of heat exhaustion:
• Excessive panting
• Drooling
• Weakness or lethargy
• Vomiting
• Difficulty breathing

Certain pets, including brachycephalic breeds (Frenchies, Bulldogs, Pugs), senior pets, overweight pets, and pets with medical conditions are especially sensitive to the heat.

If your pet seems overheated or is acting abnormal, seek veterinary care immediately.
