🚨 New Intake Alert 🚨

Everyone meet Hunter! 🐾

This handsome 10-week-old German Shorthaired Pointer puppy joined K9 Rouge Rescue today after being pulled from a rural Louisiana shelter. At just 14 pounds, Hunter is already full of curiosity and ready to learn.

Hunter is settling into his foster home where he’ll receive all the love, care, and veterinary attention he needs before beginning his search for a forever family. We can’t wait to learn more about his personality, but one thing is already clear—this sweet boy has a bright future ahead of him.

Fluffy Frenchie...

The Frenchie has made it to the number one dog breed in America and consequently they are now showing up in shelters across Louisiana.

Enter Maui! He is a 2 year old Frenchie and weighs about 20 lbs but could gain some weight to be closer to 25 lbs. His former family failed him in several ways. He was found as a stray and not microchipped. He also has heartworms from not being kept on heartworm prevention consistently or ever at all. In addition he was unaltered upon intake.

Maui has been a really sweet boy through all the stress of the shelter, foster care, and the recovery of his neuter. His personality is typical of a bully mix. He is very sweet and well behaved but not a pushover with other dogs. He is friendly and gets along with other friendly dogs who respect boundaries. Since he is a little underweight, he doesn't like other dogs approaching his food bowl but doesn't mind his foster giving treats to other dogs while he waits his turn. Maui seems house trained but he is a new intake so behaviors are still being monitored. He is definitely kennel trained and knows the word kennel.

Frenchies can have health issues and that cost as well as an understanding of the breed should be considered prior applying to adopt

We are happy to say Taco and Carla were adopted together! Thank you everyone for sharing our Facebook post!

These siblings have been through a lot! They were 2 of 14 dogs seized by animal control for animal cruelty 10 months ago. They were stuck in the shelter for 8 months on a court case. Now, Taco and Carla are able to live out the rest of their lives together in an experienced and loving home.

This is why we rescue.

BONDED PAIR! Meet Taco and Carla!

We have two littermates looking for a home together. They are 1.5 years old and about 9-10 lbs. The look to be Dachshund / Chihuahua or Chiweenies. They have big personalities in little bodies! As with the breeds, they can be vocal and good alert dogs. They are super friendly and well behaved and seem to do well with children and dogs of all sizes. They love to play and snuggle together and we're looking for a possible home where they could stay together. They are kennel trained and seem to be doing very well with house training.
