That sweet little face belongs to a puppy who recently tested positive for parvovirus. 💔
Parvo is a highly contagious and potentially life-threatening virus that can be especially devastating to puppies. The good news? Vaccination is one of the best ways to protect your puppy. ❤️
🐶 Puppies need a series of parvo-containing vaccines because their developing immune systems need multiple doses to build reliable protection.
⚠️ Until your puppy has completed their vaccine series, avoid places where lots of dogs gather.. dog parks, pet stores, boarding facilities and other areas where an unvaccinated puppy could be exposed.
🧼 Parvo is extremely hardy and can survive in the environment for long periods of time, making prevention and proper sanitation incredibly important.
And please remember.. even puppies who stay mostly at home aren’t completely risk-free. The virus can be carried into the home on contaminated shoes, clothing, objects, or other surfaces.
This little guy is fighting hard, and we are rooting for him every step of the way. 🥺❤️
Please don’t wait until your puppy is sick to think about parvo prevention. Talk to your veterinarian about keeping your puppy’s vaccines up to date.
📍 Prevention starts with a vaccine.
Protection starts with you. 🐾❤️
