Scammers are hitting it hard tonight. They have a fake page where they have posted several rescues’ shirts. Then they keep creating fake profiles to share and tag on various posts on our page. We have removed three tonight so want to make sure and let y’all know that this is NOT us. We would never tag individual accounts to try and sell merch - super tacky! Also, we would never mix those two shades of yellow on our t-shirt! 😝 Please report this page and any individual accounts promoting it because they are all fake and trying to profit off of rescues - these folks are heartless and evil.

Trigger Warning: Pet Loss

We know you want an update on KayKay & apologize for the delay. We don’t feel emotionally ready, but your support allows us to do rescue, so we feel we owe you an update sooner rather than later. A little before midnight we helped KayKay cross the rainbow bridge.

The decision was not made lightly. Hours were spent gathering info: four calls with ER vet; calls with current & former fosters’ to gain insights into quality of life pre- & post- diagnosis; a human ICU nurse; our VP; & a rescue mentor. Thank you to everyone who took the time to consult late on a Fri.

When we got KayKay in Nov., she was described as a senior (~13) but lively. She was deaf, & then diabetes stole her vision. She lost her liveliness, not uncommon with seniors with sensory loss, but the fosters believed it went deeper. She slept most of the day, & got up only to eat, potty, & cuss out her foster sibling, otherwise disinterested in things previously enjoyed. Her first foster mom said that she didn’t think KayKay had anything to “‘get up & go’ for…when the lights went out, so did she.” That broke our hearts, but that was not the deciding factor.

In the ER, KayKay was not responding. She received dextrose injections but each time her blood sugar would crash shortly after. She had several more seizures & the vet suspected an underlying issue causing the hypoglycemia. KayKay was described as being “stuperous” with neurologic abnormalities caused by the seizures. We believed it was unfair to prolong her suffering. Her foster pawrents facetimed so we could tell her how loved & cherished she was, and they were comforting her later as she crossed.

Thank you to Beverly, Kristen, & Gabe for sharing your homes & lives with KayKay. Thank you to donors that allow us to medically intervene in an emergency. It’s National Dog Mom Day, so, in honor of KayKay, please remember that life can change in the blink of an eye & love on your babies a little harder.

KayKay, our sweet senior girl fostered in AL, was diagnosed with diabetes a while back. Her blood sugar plummeted and her fosters did exactly as the vet said but could not get her blood sugar back up. While we were on the phone with her fosters, KayKay started having a seizure so she is on her way to the emergency room right now. Please say a prayer for this sweet baby and her amazing foster pawrents who are distraught. We’ll keep you posted!

Updated to add: A huge THANK YOU to Meredith and her husband for their willingness to help out. We’re hoping rush hour traffic magically parts to allow them through, we wish every light they come upon is green, and we hope they get the best gas mileage they’ve ever known! ❤️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 They deserve all the good karma for being selfless and helping us help Eleanor today. 🥰 We also sincerely appreciate everyone who took the time to help us network or offered to assist!!

Is anyone available late afternoon today (Friday 5/8) who is able to chauffeur a pug from Woodstock to Smyrna? If you can help please text Jen at 404-426-6226. We will update the post once assistance is confirmed. Thanks for considering it, and Happy Friday 😊🎉

Silly Tilly is available for adoption! She is playful and ENERGETIC and needs an adopter that can keep up with her energy. When we interviewed Tilly to ask how she’s feeling regarding her upcoming adoption, she said, 🎤“Just make sure they don’t kill my vibe.” To respect Tilly’s wishes, only applicants with lots of energy and positive vibes will be accepted. Thank you for your cooperation.

We hope to see you at and in 10 days! 🎉

WHO?:
Pug enthusiasts from across the nation. 😍

WHAT?:
Bluegrass Pug Fest - an annual event that allows you the opportunity to be surrounded by like-minded “pug people” during the scheduled two days and one evening of smushy-faced shenanigans: think petting pugs, shopping and supporting vendor and rescue booths (seriously more pug merch available for purchase than you have seen in your lifetime!), educational opportunities, silent auction, activities, contests (pug races, custard eating, etc.), food, and an After Pawty hosted by event sponsor PG&J’s Dog Park and Bar.

PG&J’s Dog Park and Bar After Pawty - Think Saturday evening sniffs and socializing, adult beverages, laughter, barking, raffles that support rescue, and did we mention there would be PUGS?! [Vet records must be pre-submitted, but they are waiving fees for pugs. Send vet records to to [email protected] and mention Bluegrass PugFest After Pawty.]

WHEN?:
Bluegrass Pug Fest - Saturday, May 16th from 9am to 5pm and Sunday, May 17 from 9am to 4pm.

AfterPawty: Saturday, May 16th. The shenanigans usually occur from around 6-9pm, but you can close the place down if you’d like! 🗣️ Last call!!

WHERE?:
Bluegrass Pug Fest: Kentucky Exposition Center West Halls, 937 Phillips Lane, Louisville, KY 40209

After Pawty: PG&J’s Dog Park and Bar, 800 Baxter Avenue, Louisville, KY, 40204

WHY?: Make memories with your pug while socializing with others in the pug community, all while supporting rescues devoted to saving the breed. The better question is - WHY NOT?! 😝

HOW?: Throw on your favorite pug t-shirt, get your pug dressed to impress, and get to the event however you can!! Whether you need to walk, jog, journey by horse-drawn buggy, or catch a plane, train, or automobile, just do whatever you need to do to get there because is a thing. 😉

It’s a fabulous Friday hanging out at the vet with Miss Eleanor, the cutest pug girl in possession of the most adorable snaggletooth in town!!! 😍 She has gained two pounds - yay 🎉 - and is looking healthier at 14.2lbs. Her vaginitis and ear infections are cleared up and she will be spayed in the next week or two. Her pug foster sister has not enjoyed sharing her momma, so Eleanor will not be a foster fail and will be posted for public adoption in the coming weeks. All information about her will be shared in her bio at that time, so stay tuned. ❤️

You get ONE chance to record the winner, so you can’t mess up. No pressure!! 😝 Totally expected that after I said “without further ado” and hit the ‘shuffle’ button it was going to generate a winner. ⏰ Five minutes later (after much further ado 😅), when my brain caught up to what my eyes were seeing, I realized that “shuffle” just shuffled the names but I still needed to click the wheel. Reading is fundamental. 🙄 ➡️ Congratulations to Amy Phillips for winning the May the 4th basket generously handcrafted and donated by CeCeBo Designs . We raised $355 toward our veterinary expenses and are so grateful to everyone who participated. ❤️ Thank you to Katie for donating the basket. ❤️ Please check out her Etsy page and support her business, CeceBo Designs: https://www.etsy.com/shop/CeceBoDesigns
