Brucella canis is a bacterial infection that can affect dogs and has become more common in the UK in recent years, particularly in dogs that have been imported, or travelled abroad. Brucella infections can go on to cause of variety of health problems in dogs, and infected dogs remain infected for life.

Brucella can be spread from dogs to humans. While the risk to most pet owners is very low, veterinary teams have a greater potential for exposure due to the nature of their work. To help keep our staff, clients and patients safe, we have introduced procedures in line with current guidance. You can view our current policies by going onto our website:

As our understanding of Brucella canis continues to evolve, we will regularly review and update our policies. Thank you for your understanding and support as we work together to keep pets and people safe. ๐Ÿ’š

This gorgeous girl is feeling light as a feather after her grooming session with us!๐Ÿ˜„

Sometimes our long haired feline friends need a little help in the grooming department, and our lovely nursing team are happy to be of assistance!

Why is grooming important for long-haired cats?
๐Ÿ˜บ Helps prevent painful mats and tangles
๐Ÿ˜บ Minimises hairballs caused by swallowed fur
๐Ÿ˜บ Keeps the coat and skin healthy
๐Ÿ˜บ Allows early detection of lumps, bumps, parasites, or skin issues

Please do get in touch if you have any grooming related questions or concerns, we are always happy to help! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿ˜ธIt's National Microchipping Month! ๐Ÿถ

This month we are spreading the word on the importance of microchipping our pet's and keeping these details on the microchip up to date! Microchipping ensures that if your pet was ever lost, they can be reunited with you as quickly as possible! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š

Did you know?
๐Ÿ’‰Microchipping has been a legal requirement for dogs since 2016, and for cat's since 2024
๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โš•๏ธA microchip is about the size of a grain of rice and last for their whole life!
๐ŸฉบCat's can be microchipped from 12 weeks old and dogs from 8 weeks old
๐ŸขNot just dogs and cats can be microchipped, you can also chip other animals such as tortoises and rabbits.

Big thank you to gorgeous Cheddar for modelling while we scanned his microchip! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ˜ธ

๐ŸฃIt's Fledgling Season! ๐Ÿฅ

It's that time of the year where young birds are learning to fly, we know loads of people are keen to help them which is lovely but If you see a young bird on the ground, it usually does not need rescuing, fledglings leave the nest before they can fully fly and spend a few days hopping around while their parents continue feeding and protecting them nearby! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š

What to do if you see one:
โœ… Move the bird only If the bird is in immediate danger (road, pavement, exposed area), move it only a short distance to nearby cover such as shrubs or a low branch.
โœ… Leave the bird where it is if it appears alert and uninjured and in a safe space.
โœ… Contact a wildlife rehabilitator if the bird is injured and follow their advice before picking the bird up.
โœ… Watch from a distance as parents are often close by

Please donโ€™t pick up healthy fledglings unless theyโ€™re injured or at risk. Giving them space gives them the best chance to survive. ๐Ÿ’š
