RE : Targeted spraying in the area from Elmbridge Council.

Oak Processionary Moth control work:
From 24 April, we’ll be carrying out targeted spraying in high‑risk areas of Common and to help manage Oak Processionary Moth.
The work uses a specialist biological treatment and any affected areas will be clearly signposted. We ask visitors to avoid these areas while spraying is taking place.
We’ll continue to monitor OPM across the borough to help keep our green spaces safe and enjoyable for residents and visitors

ATTENTION ANYONE WITH AN EU PET PASSPORT:

We have just heard TODAY that as of 22nd April, NEXT WEEK, anyone who uses an EU Pet Passport to travel to Europe can only do so if their MAIN RESIDENCE is in the EU. This ruling includes passports issued in Ireland.
We have literally just been told this today, with only 5 days notice of the change taking effect.
If you are planning to travel to Europe from 22nd April onwards, we advise you to:
1. Check whether your home/holiday home in Europe constitutes a 'Main Residence'.

2. If not, or if you are unsure, you will need to obtain an Animal Health Certificate within 10 days of your trip. Call us to arrange this.

3. Contact the APHA Pet Travel Helpline on 0370 2411710 or email: [email protected] for further information on what this means for YOU.

We do not have any further information, and can only give advice on how to obtain an Animal Health Certificate for travel to the EU.

We DO NOT know how this will be monitored, or what constitutes a 'Main Residence'.

Please contact us in plenty of time before any proposed journey in order to arrange for an AHC.

🪴🎄🍂 Christmas Plants 🪴🎄🍂

Many festive plants have a reputation for being highly toxic — but how worried should we be if our pets nibble on them? Here’s a quick guide to the common Christmas culprits:

🍂 Poinsettia (Euphorbia pulcherrima) - A classic Christmas houseplant known for its bright colour. Although often believed to be highly toxic, serious poisoning is actually very rare. Mild ingestion may cause vomiting, salivation, lethargy, and depression shortly afterwards.

🪴Mistletoe (Viscum album ) - A native plant to the UK, and often used as Christmas decoration, it does contain toxic compounds but is considered to be of low toxicity following a small ingestion. Signs from a small ingestion can include salivation, vomiting and diarrhoea. Larger ingestions can result in more severe signs.

🍒 English Holly (Ilex aquifolium) - Common in Christmas decor. Toxicity is considered low, but the sharp, rigid leaves can pose a choking or injury risk. Ingestion may lead to salivation, vomiting, diarrhoea, and reduced appetite.

🎄Christmas trees (Pinaceae tree family) - THE plant to have at Christmas! Toxicity is generally low, though the sharp needles can irritate the mouth or stomach. Ingestion may cause vomiting or diarrhoea.
