Mother’s Day is just days away, and we’re celebrating all who do so much every day 💐

If you’re gifting flowers this year, it’s worth keeping pet safety in mind since some blooms can be harmful to cats and dogs. The ASPCA Poison Control experts have put together a list of pet-safe flowers so you can create a bouquet that’s just as safe as it is beautiful. Heartworm disease starts with a single mosquito bite, but what happens next can be anything but simple.

Prevention is easy to stay on top of. Treatment? Not so much. It can be more complex, more expensive, and requires ongoing veterinary care. 🏥

Helping clients understand that difference can make all the impact when it comes to keeping pets protected year-round. 🌳

It is more than medicine at times.

The dog’s relaxed posture, focused attention on the hand, and the vet’s calm, patient demeanor all speak to a positive relationship in that moment. It’s a simple act, but one that highlights the dedication we have—not just to treating animals, but to making them feel safe and loved during potentially stressful times.
A lovely reminder of the special bond that can form between pets and the people who care for them! 🐶❤️

Dogs typically give a series of warnings before escalating to a bite.
Whale eye....Stiffening.....Ears back.....Raised hackles...

Dogs rarely “bite out of nowhere.” 🐶

Most give subtle signals first and recognizing those early cues can help prevent stress from escalating into fear or defensive behavior.

Understanding body language isn’t just helpful for pet owners, it’s a critical part of client education, bite prevention, and safer handling in practice. 🩺

From lip licking and turning away to stiff posture and hard stares, small changes can tell you a lot about how a dog is feeling.

Save this for reference and share with clients, friends, or fellow team members. 🐾

Dogs have ear canals that can trap moisture, wax, and debris, creating an ideal environment for yeast or bacteria to thrive. Early signs of an ear infection may include head shaking, scratching at the ears, redness, an unpleasant odour, discharge, or sensitivity when the ear is touched. If left untreated, ear infections can become very painful and may lead to chronic inflammation, skin damage, or even complications deeper within the ear.
