Today, we’re sharing some sad news.
Dr. K and Ernie have said goodbye to their beloved Gracie.

For so many, you knew her as the gentle presence in the lobby of the clinic stretched out on her favorite sunny spot, happily greeting everyone who walked through our doors. Others knew her from her daily neighborhood walks with Ernie, where they stopped to say hello to friends along the way.

To our SSVH team, she was more than just our boss’s dog. She was our quiet little supervisor, always nearby, keeping watch and giving us that look reminding us when it might be time for a treat.
Gracie wasn’t just part of Dr. K and Ernie’s family, she was part of ours, too.

Thank you to everyone who showed her love over the years. Your pets, smiles, and kind words meant more than you know. She will be so deeply missed. 🤍

Today we said goodbye to one of our beloved clinic cats, Dante.

For the past 10 years, he was a quiet but special part of our team, usually found in the back tucked away in towel cupboard or other cozy hiding spots, keeping us company while we worked.

Dante was originally Dr. K’s mom’s cat and lived in her hometown in Ontario. When he began declining from renal failure 10 years ago, he made the journey to BC to spend what everyone thought would be his final days as an SSVH clinic cat. To everyone’s surprise, he responded incredibly well to treatment and even went into remission from renal failure!

At 21 years old, we knew his time with us was limited. Four months ago, Dante went to live with one of our team members, where he spent his days being snuggled by her kids and relaxing in his favorite spot in front of the fireplace. He was so loved.

The clinic won’t feel the same without our cupboard cat . 🤍
