nutritional advice for optimal health and to help treat many health conditions; we offer titer testing before vaccinations; we try to reduce parasite preventative medications being applied to your pet; we treat and manage anxiety and fear in pets and approach our patients in a way to reduce their fear in the clinic. Happy Father’s Day from Bentons Road Vet!

Today, we're celebrating all the dads — including the ones whose children happen to have four legs, whiskers, feathers or a slightly unhealthy obsession with tennis balls. 🐾

To the dads who:

🐶 Get up early for the morning walk
🐱 Claim they "don't want the cat on the bed"… then somehow end up sharing their pillow
🐾 Are responsible for sneaking the extra treats
🚗 Become the designated driver for vet visits
💙 And insist the pet isn't their favourite member of the family while providing considerable evidence to the contrary...

🎉🐾 CONGRATULATIONS MAGGIE — REGISTERED VETERINARY NURSE!

We’re very proud to share that our wonderful Senior Veterinary Nurse Maggie has officially achieved registration as a Veterinary Nurse!💙

Maggie has been part of the Bentons Road Vet team for more than nine years, and during that time she has continued to develop her skills, knowledge and experience through ongoing education and professional development.

Becoming a Registered Veterinary Nurse recognises that commitment. Registration through the Veterinary Nurses Council of Australia (VNCA) involves meeting professional standards for education, experience, continuing professional development and professional conduct.

At the moment, registration for veterinary nurses in Australia is largely voluntary, but the VNCA continues to advocate for mandatory registration and title protection for veterinary nurses.

Why does that matter?

Compulsory registration would help veterinary nursing be formally recognised as the skilled profession it is. It would provide consistent professional standards, ongoing education requirements and accountability — while giving pet owners greater clarity about the qualifications of the people caring for their animals.

Veterinary nurses do so much more than many people realise. They monitor anaesthetics, care for hospitalised and critically ill patients, collect blood samples, take radiographs, assist in surgery, provide pain management and nursing care, educate clients… and are often the reassuring hands and familiar faces beside our patients throughout their time with us.

For Maggie, this registration represents years of experience, learning and dedication to her profession — and we couldn't be happier to see that recognised.

Our first Monday morning in our new home

This photo captures a pretty special moment — some of our team gathered for our very first morning huddle in the new Bentons Road Vet.

After months of planning, building, packing and moving, suddenly we were all standing together in the clinic we'd spent so long imagining… ready to start our first day.

Have there been a few little hiccups? Of course! 😆 We're still occasionally opening the wrong cupboard, working out where things live and getting used to our beautiful new space.

But overall, things are going really well, and we're incredibly proud of how our team has adapted and supported each other through such a big transition.

Most importantly, we've loved seeing our patients and clients beginning to experience the new clinic.

For those who have already visited, we hope you've enjoyed the new space and felt just as welcome and cared for as you always have. We'd love to hear what you think!

And to everyone who has supported us through the build, the move and these first few days — thank you. 💙

🎉🐾 WE ARE OPEN!

The day has finally arrived!

Today, we officially open the doors to our brand-new Bentons Road Veterinary Clinic! 💙🏥
After months of planning, building, packing and one very big moving weekend, we are SO excited to welcome you and your pets into our new home.

There may still be the occasional box to unpack and we may have to think twice about which cupboard something lives in 😆, but we're here, we're open and we're ready to get back to doing what we love — caring for your pets.

Our new purpose-built clinic gives us more space to care for more patients, dedicated areas for cats, a separate waiting space for nervous dogs, spacious treatment and hospital areas, dedicated surgical spaces and a whole lot more room for our team to do their best work.

Most importantly…

Same team. Same thoughtful, individual care. Same Bentons Road Vet — just next door!

Thank you to our wonderful clients and community for your patience, encouragement and support throughout the build and our move. We couldn't be more excited to begin this next chapter with you.

🎉🐾 WE’RE OPENING TOMORROW!

After months of planning, building, dust, decisions, deliveries and plenty of anticipation… tomorrow, Monday 31st August, we officially open the doors to our brand-new Bentons Road Veterinary Clinic! 💙

It's hard to believe the day is finally here.

Our new purpose-built clinic has been designed with our patients, clients and team at its heart. There's more space to care for more pets, a dedicated cat area, a separate waiting area for nervous dogs, and thoughtfully designed spaces that will help us continue providing the high standard of veterinary care we're so passionate about.

Tonight, there will undoubtedly be a few last-minute jobs, a lot of excitement and possibly some wondering where we put things… but tomorrow morning we'll be ready to welcome you. 😆

While the building may be new, the things that matter haven't changed.

Same familiar faces. Same thoughtful, individual care. Same Bentons Road Vet — just with a beautiful new home.

A huge thank you to our wonderful clients and community for your patience and support throughout the build and our move this weekend. We truly appreciate it.

🚚🐾 TODAY’S THE DAY — IT’S MOVING DAY!

A little reminder that Bentons Road Veterinary Clinic is CLOSED today, Friday 28th August, and tomorrow, Saturday 29th August, while we make the big move into our brand-new clinic next door!

Today our team will be swapping consult rooms for moving boxes as we pack, carry, unpack, organise… and probably ask “Has anyone seen where this went?” more than once. 😂📦

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by our closure and thank you for your patience while we get everything ready.

The exciting part?

🎉 We reopen on Monday 31st August in our NEW CLINIC!

After months of watching it all come together, we can hardly believe moving day is finally here.

Thank you for coming along on this journey with us. We can't wait to welcome you and your pets through the new doors on Monday. 💙

We’ve shared the plans, the construction, the dust, the cabinetry and plenty of little sneak peeks along the way… and now we can finally show you around our brand-new Bentons Road Veterinary Clinic! 💙

This clinic has been designed from the ground up with our patients, clients and team in mind.
You'll see more space to care for our patients, dedicated areas for cats, a separate waiting space for nervous dogs, beautiful new consult rooms, spacious treatment and hospital areas, dedicated surgical spaces, staff amenities and so many thoughtful little details that we hope will make visits calmer and more comfortable.

But while we're incredibly proud of our beautiful new building, what we're most excited about is what it allows us to do inside it.

More room to provide thoughtful, individual veterinary care.
More space for our team to work together.
More opportunities to continue developing the services we can offer our patients.
And a clinic designed to support the kind of veterinary medicine we believe in.

After months of watching our beautiful new clinic take shape next door, the moment we've been waiting for is finally here!

To give our team time to pack, move, unpack (and work out where everything lives!), Bentons Road Veterinary Clinic will be CLOSED on:

📦 Friday 28th August
📦 Saturday 29th August

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this closure may cause and really appreciate your patience and understanding. We'll be working hard behind the scenes to get everything ready for you and your pets.

And then comes the exciting part…

🎉 On Monday 31st August, we'll open the doors to our BRAND-NEW CLINIC! 🎉

Same team. Same care.

A whole lot more space — and conveniently, we're only moving next door! 💙

We can't quite believe we're finally saying it. We are SO excited to welcome you and your pets into our new home.

🍪 A very delicious “Good On Ya!”

On Monday, we received a very special delivery from the lovely Fiona — a batch of homemade Good On Ya” cookies for our team.

For those who have been following along, our Good On Ya movement is all about recognising the little things people do that make a difference. Our team regularly leave Good On Ya notes for each other to say thank you, acknowledge a helping hand or simply let someone know they're appreciated.

So we absolutely loved that Fiona took the idea on board and created her own (much more delicious!) version for us. 💙

Needless to say, the cookies did not last long. Apparently veterinary teams are very efficient when properly motivated by baked goods. 😂

Thank you so much Fiona, Bronte and Barty for thinking of us. It was such a thoughtful gesture, very much appreciated by the whole team — and they were delicious!

Meet Lulu – and a result that has exceeded our hopes!

Lulu is a gorgeous 9 year-old Cavoodle who has lived with advanced osteoarthritis for much of her life.

She has severe joint remodelling in both shoulders, particularly her left, causing significant pain and lameness. It was affecting not only her mobility, but her mood, willingness to walk and ability to play. Lulu had been assessed by surgeons, but unfortunately there wasn't an appropriate surgical option for her.

Recently, Dr Kelly injected Arthramid® into Lulu's shoulder joints under general anaesthesia.

Arthramid is a 2.5% injectable polyacrylamide hydrogel (iPAAG) used to manage osteoarthritis. Once injected into the joint, it integrates into the synovial membrane within approximately 14 days, helping support joint function and longer-term synovial health.

And Lulu's response has been wonderful. 💙

At her recent review, her owner was ecstatic. Lulu is now off her Meloxicam and Paracetamol most of the time, she's happier and playful, wants to romp around and is enjoying much longer walks. Previously, she would quickly want to lie down in her pram — now she wants to keep those little legs moving!

Perhaps most importantly, her family has noticed a dramatic improvement in her overall demeanour. She's simply a much happier Lulu.

Every arthritic patient is different, and Arthramid won't be appropriate for every dog. But Lulu is a wonderful example of why we keep looking for different ways to manage chronic pain and improve quality of life.

If your dog is living with osteoarthritis and you'd like to know whether an intra-articular treatment such as Arthramid may be suitable, please have a chat with us.
