This gorgeous kitty belongs to one of our fabulous vets and had a dental procedure not long ago.
While those pearly whites might look healthy above the gumline, there's so much we can't see without dental X-rays.
Did you know that around 60% of a cat's tooth sits below the gumline? 🦷 That's why dental X-rays are such an important part of every professional dental procedure. They allow us to assess the tooth roots, surrounding bone and identify hidden problems such as tooth root abscesses, fractures, resorptive lesions and other painful dental disease that simply can't be seen by looking in the mouth alone.
Cats are experts at hiding pain, so dental disease often goes unnoticed until it's quite advanced. Performing a thorough dental examination together with full-mouth dental X-rays helps us diagnose and treat problems early, keeping our feline friends comfortable, healthy and pain-free.
Marshmellow was an absolute superstar throughout the procedure, and we're so happy to help keep that smile in great shape! 💙🐾
