Meet little George 🥹

This sweet 14-week-old Bulldog came into Bellerive for his vaccination and found the perfect spot to hang out in our cat nooks while he waited!

It’s Veterinary Nurse and Technologist Awareness Week! ❤️🐾🩺

This week we’re celebrating our amazing vet nurses and all the different hats they wear every single day.

They’re anaesthetists, surgical assistants, phlebotomists, radiographers, lab technicians, pharmacy assistants, educators, nutritionists, caregivers, advocates, comforters and lifesavers. They’re there to calm a nervous patient, support a worried owner, care for patients through recovery and make sure every pet gets the best care possible.

There’s so much our nurses do that happens behind the scenes, and we really couldn’t do it without them!

With Veterinary Nurse Day this Friday, we’re giving our incredible nursing teams the appreciation they deserve! 🩷

Meet Jayd, one of our wonderful veterinary nurses 🐾

Jayd joined TVH at the start of 2022 and has become a huge part of our Bellerive team. As one of our Hospital Supervisors, she plays a big role in keeping the day running smoothly, coordinating procedures, supporting the team and making sure everything stays on track while our patients are receiving the care they need.

Jayd has always had a strong love for animals from a very young age, which naturally led her to pursue a career in veterinary nursing. She’s particularly passionate about providing high-quality patient care, with a special interest in neonatal care and complex anaesthesia.

Outside of work, Jayd loves keeping active and enjoys playing a variety of sports, including football, soccer and touch football. She’s also kept very busy with her three dogs, Jasper, Willow and Teddy 🐶

We’re so lucky to have Jayd as part of our team and caring for our patients at Bellerive! ❤

Beautiful Lottie, the sweetest Rottweiler puppy, recently visited our team to have her base narrow lower puppy canines removed 🐶🦷

As you can see in the photo, Lottie’s lower puppy canines were growing too narrowly and were sticking up into her gum, rather than sitting on the outside where they should. This can cause discomfort and pain, as well as potentially affecting the position of her developing adult canines.

Removing these puppy (deciduous) teeth gives her adult canines the best chance of erupting in a normal, healthy position.

Lottie was an absolute sweetheart during her visit and received plenty of cuddles, attention and love from the whole team 💕

Meet Dr Sophia, one of our amazing vets 🐾

Sophia joined the TVH team back in May and mainly works across our Bellerive and Mornington clinics.

Growing up between New Zealand, Tassie and Queensland, Sophia was surrounded by science thanks to both of her parents having medical backgrounds. But it was her love for animals that inspired her to become a vet, something she’s wanted to do for as long as she can remember!

Sophia graduated from James Cook University in Townsville before spending almost two years working in Kingaroy. She then made the move back to Tassie to be closer to family, spending the next three years working in the North West before joining TVH.

Her main interests are surgery, emergency, behaviour and ophthalmology, so she loves getting stuck into a variety of cases across our clinics!

Outside of work, Sophia is usually out walking her 60kg dog Lola, grabbing a coffee or enjoying one of Tassie’s beautiful beaches.

We’re so lucky to have Sophia as part of our team and caring for our patients across Bellerive and Mornington! 🩷

Our clinic in Bellerive has classes starting next Tuesday, 22nd September, with a few spots still available!

🐾 Puppy Classes are back! 🐾

Now that we’re back at our Bellerive clinic, our puppy classes are back up and running! 🐶💕

Our first class starts next Tuesday, 22nd September, and we still have a few spots available.

Classes will be held right here at our clinic in our courtyard on Tuesday afternoons from 4pm–4:45pm, with Rosanne from Paw2hand Dog Training.

Puppy classes are a great way to help your new family member build confidence, learn important skills and develop those all-important socialisation skills in a safe and positive environment 🐾

Puppy requirements:
Must have received their first vaccination
Must be under 16 weeks old at the start of the first class

R U OK? Day is a reminder that every day is an opportunity to check in with the people around us and ask a simple question "Are you okay"

First and foremost, a massive thank you to our incredible TVH Teams for your hard work and dedication every single day 💛

Behind the puppy cuddles and the care our teams provide, veterinary medicine is an incredibly demanding industry. We often have conversations where those out of the profession don't fully realise the unique pressures involved. Because of this, it is vital that we stick together, check in regularly, support one another, and show kindness.

Today is a reminder about looking out for those around us, taking the time to genuinely connect, and ensuring we have an environment that makes it easier for people to speak up when they're not feeling their best. Sometimes a simple conversation or check-in can make a bigger difference than we realise.

Remi the Bernese Mountain Dog puppy popped in for her puppy appointment recently and was an absolute sweetheart! 🐶

Bernese Mountain Dogs may grow into very big dogs, but they’re known for being gentle and affectionate 🐾

We’re sure Remi will be filling out those big paws in no time, and we can’t wait to watch her grow into a big girl! 🥰
