H5 Bird Flu
Information For Tasmanian Bird Owners.

Tasmanian owners of pet and domestic birds are being encouraged to provide details of where their birds are kept to help strengthen the state's preparedness for H5 bird flu.

The voluntary registration will help Biosecurity Tasmania communicate directly with bird owners, providing important updates and practical advice about H5 bird flu.

This communication will help support disease tracing efforts if further H5 bird flu detections occur. This will allow for quick communication to owners in areas where the further detections are noted.

We encourage anyone who owns pet or domestic birds, including backyard and hobby poultry keepers to complete the online form.

This is a voluntary measure, but it is a practical way bird owners can help us strengthen Tasmania's preparedness and response capability.

In February this year, Tori, a 7 year old West Highland Terrier was a little off and her owners brought her in for a check up with Dr Brook and she was diagnosed with Lymphoma, cancer of the lymphatic system/lymph nodes. She then underwent 17 weeks of chemotherapy treatment and we are so happy to announce that she is in remission!! We are so proud of you Tori 🐾🐾❤️
