Spring has sprung, the weather’s warming up and Toorak Jewel has decided it’s officially swim o’clock! 🏊‍♀️

Our stable star is back in work as a 3YO and, safe to say, she’s looking a million bucks. The teams very happy to have this girl back in the barn… although we’re not sure who’s more excited for Friday afternoons in the pool. 😉

Ever wondered why you’ll sometimes see our horses putting in the work on the treadmill? 👀

The treadmill is an important part of our training toolkit at Shailer Racing, helping us build fitness, strength and conditioning in a controlled environment alongside their regular trackwork.

It allows us to add work without the same impact and variables that come with galloping, making it particularly useful for building a horse’s cardiovascular fitness and strength while managing their overall workload.

For our young horses, it can also be a great way to introduce them to different forms of exercise and gradually build their strength and confidence as they progress through their education.

Every horse is an individual, so their workload is tailored to where they are in their preparation and what they need to get the best out of them.

It’s all about using the right tools, at the right time, to keep our horses progressing in the right direction! 🏇

THE PERFECT COMEBACK!🏆

Yesterday at Grafton, after almost 10 months on the sidelines, our stable apprentice Paige returned to race riding in the best possible way - guiding Divine Mandate to his maiden win over 1410m.

Slow away, the pair found their rhythm and fought all the way to the line to secure the win.

For our stable and family, this win means so much more. After months of rehabilitation, setbacks and hard work, seeing Paige return with a winner is a moment we’ll never forget.

Welcome back, Paige 🥳
