Meet Luna 💙
She is an 8 year old French Bulldog who has been part of our Back In Motion family for a very long time.

Luna has some hind leg challenges that we manage through weekly sessions, and she is doing beautifully. Consistent, regular physiotherapy has kept her strong, comfortable and very much her wonderful self.

Some patients come for a short rehabilitation journey. Others become part of your weekly routine and your heart. Luna is very much the latter.

When a dog stops jumping on the couch, most owners assume they just changed their mind.

But dogs do not just decide to stop doing things they used to love. If your dog has quietly stopped jumping, hesitates before the car, or takes the long way around obstacles they used to step over without thinking, that is worth paying attention to.

Pain rarely announces itself dramatically. It whispers first. Through small behavioural shifts and quiet withdrawals from movement that used to feel effortless.

Your dog cannot tell you something hurts. But they are showing you. 💙

Some visits are about treatment. Some are about the small things that make a big difference between sessions. 🐾

Nelson is an almost 11 year old Ridgeback who has been with us since October last year. He manages back pain, some geriatric changes and a recently diagnosed sacroiliac joint condition that has made moving around at home more challenging than it should be.

During his home visit this week we helped fit him with toe grips, they are small rubber tips that sit over the nails and give dogs like Nelson the traction they need on smooth floors. Such a simple tool. Such a meaningful difference for a dog who deserves to move through his own home with confidence.

He was not entirely sure about the process. But he tolerated it with the quiet dignity only a Ridgeback can manage. 😊

Two therapists. One shared passion. And between us, a very strong opinion on coffee, Dachshunds and interesting socks. 🐾

Back In Motion was founded 8 years ago with one simple belief: that every dog deserves structured, thoughtful rehabilitation from people who genuinely care. Aldené joined the team in 2023 and brought exactly that same heart to every patient she sees.

Between us we have over a decade of experience in veterinary physiotherapy and rehabilitation. Aldené also brings a unique perspective as a competitive show jumper, she understands athletic bodies in a way that directly benefits every patient she treats.

We believe every dog deserves to feel like themselves again. And every patient deserves a fair chance at recovery.

Meet Jasper 💙
He is an almost 11 year old Dachshund who has been part of our Back In Motion family for a very long time.

Jasper lives with IVDD and has been managed conservatively throughout his journey with us. Consistent, careful rehabilitation has kept him moving, comfortable and very much himself.

He also made us work for today's photo. But we think it was worth the wait. 😊

Long term patients like Jasper are a special reminder of why this work matters. Not every case is a short rehabilitation journey. Some dogs need ongoing support to stay at their best, and we are honoured to be part of that for as long as they need us.

Your dog will not tell you they are in pain. Not directly.

What they will do is slow down slightly on walks. Take longer to get comfortable. Avoid the stairs they used to fly up. Sit a little differently than they used to.

These are not signs of aging. They are signs worth paying attention to.

Dogs are wired to hide discomfort, it is a survival instinct that has never left them, even in the safest, most loved home. Which means by the time the limp appears, the pain has often been there for a while.

If something feels different about your dog lately, trust that feeling. It is worth looking into. 💙
