We hear the word “reactive” a lot when talking about dogs, but what does it actually mean?

Not every dog that barks, pulls or growls is necessarily reactive. Understanding what triggers the behaviour, and what your dog is experiencing, is much more important than simply putting a label on it.

Your dog's behaviour is trying to tell you something.

Barking, pulling on the lead, reacting to other dogs, fear, anxiety or aggression can all look very different, but the behaviour itself doesn't always tell us why it's happening.

That's why simply trying to stop the behaviour isn't always enough.

A Behaviour Assessment helps us look at the bigger picture, understand what may be contributing to your dog's behaviour, and work out what your dog actually needs.

Your dog deserves to be understood, not just corrected.

Every behaviour has a reason.

Whether your dog is barking, pulling on the lead, jumping up, or reacting to other dogs, simply correcting the behaviour doesn't explain why it's happening.

When we understand the cause, we can create lasting change in a way that's fair for both you and your dog.
