Big news from our Cedar Rapids crew… meet Elvis & Merle! 🐾

These two special boys are the newest future service dogs joining the IOWA Service Dogs program and will both be training out of our Cedar Rapids location. Elvis, our chocolate lab, and Merle, our red lab, have already stolen hearts and are ready to begin their journeys toward changing lives.

We are incredibly thankful to have worked with Blackberry Hill Labradors to find these amazing pups. Their support and belief in our mission means so much to us.

We can’t wait to share updates as these boys grow, learn, and start their service dog training adventures. 💙🐶

Huge thank you to Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine for partnering with the ACVO®-SAVES™ (Service Animal Veterinary Eye Screening) program and providing free eye screenings for service dogs like our sweet girl, Charlie.

These screenings play an important role in ensuring our dogs are healthy and ready for their future careers changing lives. Charlie is getting closer and closer to her match, which means another life will soon be impacted through the work of IOWA Service Dogs.

We are incredibly grateful for partners who help make this mission possible. 🐾

I’m not just a puppy. I’m a future lifeline.

One day, I’ll be my warrior’s steady support, showing up in a heartbeat, sometimes before they even know they need me. I’ll help calm the chaos, redirect overwhelming moments, and bring them back to steady ground. I’ll pick up what’s been dropped, open doors when things feel closed, and be a light when the dark starts to take over.

But I can’t do any of this on my own.

It takes a team, guardians and puppy sitters who guide me, teach me, and help me grow into the dog I’m meant to be. They’re the reason I’ll be ready when my person needs me most.

As National Volunteer Week comes to a close, it feels only right to say this loud and clear… IOWA Service Dogs simply wouldn’t exist without our volunteers.

We are an all-volunteer organization, and every single person shows up with heart, ideas, and a willingness to go above and beyond. Because of them, lives are changed and the people who need it most gain greater independence through service dogs.

Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it!
