Here at Grand Avenue Veterinary Hospital, we want to help make sure your pet can always find their way home. 🐾

Today, we want to share a beautiful and heartwarming story that we were so lucky to be a part of—and a reminder of why microchipping your pet is so important!

🐾 Meet Beedle! 🐾

Three years ago, Beedle and his family moved to a new home in Des Moines. As an indoor/outdoor cat, Beedle was eager to explore his new surroundings. Unfortunately, he wandered off and couldn't find his way home. 💔

His parents, Webster and Claire Kranto, never stopped hoping they would one day be reunited with their beloved fur baby. Eventually, life took them to North Carolina, but they never forgot Beedle.

Then, this past week, they received a phone call from Grand Avenue Veterinary Hospital that they had only dreamed of getting:

Beedle had been found! 🥹💜

Thanks to three incredibly kind and caring ladies—one of whom is a Grand Avenue Veterinary Hospital employee—and Beedle's microchip, we were able to identify him and locate his family.

After THREE YEARS, Beedle was finally reunited with the people who never stopped loving him! 🏠🐾❤️

✨ This is why microchipping matters! ✨

Collars and tags are important, but they can be lost. A microchip provides permanent identification that can help a lost pet find their way home.

🐾 Meet the Team Monday! 🐾

Say hello to Katerina, our Veterinary Assistant! 👋🩺🐶🐱

Katerina is new to the veterinary world, but her love for animals is anything but new! 💕 She graduated from Iowa State University in May 2026 with a B.S. in Animal Science and a minor in Microbiology, and she’s excited to put her knowledge to work while continuing to learn all things veterinary medicine.

She loves getting to the why behind what’s going on with her patients and takes pride in making sure they receive the best care possible. Her curiosity, compassion, and eagerness to learn make her a wonderful addition to the team! 🐾✨

When she’s off the clock, Katerina enjoys reading, dancing, and spending time with friends and family. And if you ever want to get her talking, just mention Percy Jackson or Greek mythology. ⚡🏛️📚 We’re pretty sure she’d make an excellent demigod. 😉
