This week, our Practice Manager, Troy Lyons, had the opportunity to attend a leadership retreat with Heartland Veterinary Partnersā€”and what an incredible experience it was!

From learning new strategies to strengthen our hospital, to connecting with other leaders across the Heartland family, the retreat was filled with valuable insights, inspiration, and ideas that will help us continue providing exceptional care to our patients, clients, and team members.

A huge thank you to the (B&I) Team for organizing such a meaningful event. Your dedication to supporting hospital leaders and investing in professional growth makes a lasting impact throughout our organization.

Many pet owners are surprised to learn that Iowa law and local city ordinances are not exactly the same when it comes to rabies vaccination.

āœ… Iowa law requires all dogs 6 months of age and older to be vaccinated against rabies.

āœ… In many Des Moines Metro communitiesā€”including Des Moines, West Des Moines, Johnston, and other surrounding citiesā€”current rabies vaccination is also required for pet licensing and local ordinance compliance for both dogs and cats.

Why does this matter?

šŸ¾ Rabies is almost always fatal once symptoms develop.
šŸ¾ Rabies can be transmitted from animals to people.
šŸ¾ Indoor pets are still at risk, especially from bats.
