These past couple of weeks have been so special in the show pen, and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished with Rest of My Life.

We were honored to bring home the Open Class Championship along with a beautiful Morgan after tying for first and also earned the Limited Open Championship and Rookie Professional Championship plaque at the Bring Back the Rein NRHA Show.

“Rest of My Life” and Peggy Bond-Heath also won the Novice Horse Level 2 at the Spring Fling NRHA Show, adding even more earnings to this up-and-coming mare’s record. Moments like these are never achieved alone, and I’m so grateful for the team behind them.

A huge thank you to my amazing client and owner, Joedy Lange, for trusting me with such a talented mare and for being such a wonderful partner throughout this journey. Your support, dedication, and belief in our program mean so much.

“Rest of My Life” continues to give everything in the arena, and I couldn’t be more proud of this mare and all that we’re building together. Excited for what’s still ahead!

THE HORSE EVERYONE WANTS

A lot of people say they want a well-trained horse. Often times, what alot of people really want… is a dull one.

A truly well-trained trained horse expects you to know your s**t.

What your leg is doing means something.
The turn of your wrist means something.
How you move in your seat matters.
How you prepare the reins is a cue.

A well-trained horse is paying attention to every cue your body is communicating to it.

And for riders who haven’t learned that language yet… that can feel like too much or a poorly trained horse. Those riders will start blaming the horse or past training for their own lack of ability to understand what that well-trained horse actually knows.

Meanwhile the “dead broke” dull horse that ignores half of what’s happening on its back feels safe to a lot of people. Not because of it's training... But because it’s learned to tune the rider out.

The truth is, a well-trained horse isn’t harder to ride. It just expects the rider to show up and do their job too. And unfortunately, that makes a lot of people uncomfortable.

I want to do my part to educate others as I have had to do over the years on the importance of knowing the difference and understanding what type of horse is best suited for the rider at the time.

The horse you want might not be the horse you need right now. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

To really enjoy this sport or our horse it really boils down to making the correct investments into ourselves and the horse we choose.
