Just for fun, here is Josiah and I setting up my round pen!

If you’ve been paying close attention to my recent posts, you may have noticed a change of scenery. I actually moved my horses and business to a new barn at the end of August!

I’ve trained out of a handful of barns now, and now that I’ve had some time to settle in, this one feels more like home than any other. This is a new season of life for me. I have a new house with a new commute to a new barn. To you guys it probably just looks like more of the same, but to me, I feel a fresh sense of gratitude every day. My horses are happier than they’ve ever been, I’m more comfortable than I’ve ever been, and everything feels just a little bit slower and simpler—in a way that makes me feel like I’m right where I ought to be.

I have two very supportive families that live close by (mine and my husbad’s), extra supportive extended family (and bonus chosen family, you know who you are!) that encourages me from afar, an incredible spouse, and a wonderful group of clients old and new from all over the world that are also great company. We also have a church where we can serve among so many people we love. I’ve always tried to hold strong to a sense of awe and wonder when I look at life, but right now I don’t have to try—there’s just no other way to look at it. God has been so kind to me.

I just can’t believe I get to live this life. I can’t wait to get to work and I can’t wait to get home, every day. I’m sure there will be seasons, as there have been already, where life doesn’t feel so serendipitous. I pray things stay this way for a long time ❤️

What are you thankful for?

We received some sad news yesterday—do you remember “Sage’s Story” aka “Eden’s Story” that was posted earlier this year? She found her happy ending at a sanctuary where she was thriving. Unfortunately her story ended yesterday when she and her herd mates were struck by lightning. I’m thankful that she did not suffer and that her time came while grazing amongst friends. Thank you to everyone who supported this mare during her time of need ❤️

Yesterday I declared war on Halfmoon’s hooves.

*For those new to my page, HalfMoon is my 9 year old Mustang that I adopted wild in January

For training her to trim, slow and steady is great until she starts to show soreness in a hoof. Then something must happen. So war it was! Here’s how it went.

I started with her hind hooves. I gave her some sedation to keep her still. These ones were soooo long and gross (check out the before/afters)! This is their first time being trimmed. She did great for those hooves. It took her a while to figure out how to steady herself, but once she did she was willing.

You may remember that I trimmed her front hooves successfully before (no sedation too)! Well, that was then and this is now, and she was not happy about it this time. She would let me hold it just long enough to position my tool, then she’d sn**ch it back 🫣

It was annoying, but I believe in allowing horses to make mistakes.

I allow this so that I can correct it over time. I don’t want to punish a horse, I hate it—so most of the time I allow them to make mistakes, and you’d be surprised how many of them truly do want to do the “right thing” if they’re given enough time to not be afraid.

So I let her sn**ch it back. And then I would pick it up again and reward her when her hoof was on the stand—which was not for very long. It was enough to finish her front hooves, and it was enough to make me happy—a battle for another day.

P.S. She likes apples ☺️🍏

So this post has nothing to do with a particular horse, instead I want to share something with you from my personal life...

So this post has nothing to do with a particular horse, instead I want to share something with you from my personal life.

For those who know me well, you might remember that Josiah and I have been living in a cozy camping trailer parked on top of a pretty hill for the past three years. We did this both to save money on rent and also to start small and build our marriage on a life shared very closely together, surrounded only by things that are meaningful to us.

We didn’t have a plan besides knowing we wanted a God-centered marriage and a life lived purposefully. I remember we spent every penny we had (including the money I made on my first Mustang Challenge horse, Rojo) on our travel trailer, starting from zero together.

Well, I am beyond thrilled to get to tell you guys that Josiah and I are back to sparse bank accounts—but this time, we have a house to show for it!

Yesterday, we became homeowners 😱!

I’m sitting on the floor of my living room thinking about each horse and human that has come into and out of my life since this journey has started, and I want nothing more than to give them each a big hug. I give my everything to make each horse’s life better, and now, they have done that for me 🥹.

I owe you ALL a big thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting my life. Some of you have paid for training, bought a horse, encouraged me with comments and likes, or even made spontaneous donations for the horses. I’m always so moved when a stranger mentions that they know me because one of you guys told them nice things about me. You’ve prayed for me, you’ve interacted with my posts (FB pays me for that! Thank you!), some of you are my close friends or were for a season, and maybe without even knowing it, you’ve changed my life. All of you.

One of you even drove out to my place to fix my horse trailer at no cost after it got hit by a tree 🥹🤗. I don’t know what I’ve done to be deserving of your support ❤️.

My heart is grateful for each of you!

Cheers to a new season of life,
I thank God for the horse community—I thank God for YOU!

General info

Meet Shania! This sweet girl is ready for a job. She aims to please and would love to steal a mare-lover’s heart. While she has been ridden plenty in the past, she would do best in a home prepared to give her a refresher as it has been a while since her last ride. She is well bred so could also serve as a broodmare. Please private message me if you’d like to chat more about her history and potential!

Reason for rehoming

I bought Shania as a project horse with the hopes of getting her show-ready, but now my husband and I are in the process of buying a house and we would benefit from her carrots 🥕 now instead of later. So she’s available now for a quick, uncomplicated arrangement to a good home!
