Foxtail season is here in Tucson, and these tiny grasses can cause BIG problems for our pets 🌾🐾
Foxtails may seem harmless, but their sharp seed heads can become lodged in your pet’s paws, ears, nose, eyes, or skin, leading to painful infections and even emergency situations if left untreated.
Common signs to watch for include:
• Sneezing
• Head shaking
• Limping
• Excessive paw licking
• Swollen toes
• Squinting or eye discharge
The best prevention is checking your pets after walks and avoiding overgrown grassy areas whenever possible. If you think your pet may have a foxtail injury, contact your veterinarian as soon as possible. 💙
