When mom met me I was rough. My original owner had me in a little bit of a fu**ed up home. Things got messed up in my brain. But when mom got me she was all in. Within a couple weeks she knew she needed help.
When Kanes mom came to us we talked about the numerous triggers, explosive reactivity from far away even and how he is trying to bite coworkers and people. He was never socialized, had some legitimate abuse in his background, and just didn't understand life. We start off slow with dogs like these. It takes some time to get basic procedures, a bond with different assigned handlers,and unfortunately yes some figuring out what he struggles with the hard way. After that point the journey can begin. We could not be more proud of how he has done. He has been going with Chris to even drop off his kids at school and has learned neutrality around other dogs even when allowed to have contact. He is also able to be muzzled and even will still play and eat with it on! STOP WONDERING IF YOUR DOG CAN BE HELPED AND TAKE ACTION!

Today we discuss the world of purely positive dog training. Is there downfalls? Can we see shortcomings. Having too much of any one thing can sometimes be a bad thing. Only training a dog with corrections can leave behaviors feeling flat or very forced sometimes. Just as only relying on praise and rewards can leave a dog that lacks a "must do" control if they find themselves wanting to be defiant. That balance might look different depending on the dog, it's behaviors, and it's goals. What do you think about purely positive? Have you tried it? What was your experience? Let us know below.
