Compassion Without Borders was founded in 2001 by Christi and Moncho Camblor . The focus of our organization is to alleviate the suffering of unwanted companion animals in Mexico and other low resource regions in the US through a multifaceted approach which includes international rescue efforts, extensive spay/neuter campaigns, humane euthanasia and humane education. Our board is made up of veterinarians and professional animal advocates with decades of experience from around the country. We are staffed by nearly 100% volunteer labor – which means 100% of all donations can go directly toward our work!

Her love for animals truly knows no limits! ❤️

🩺 Meet Ambrina, our incredible veterinary technician here at Compassion Without Borders who goes above and beyond every day for animals.

Ambrina joined the CWOB team more than 3 years ago as an Animal Care Technician (ACT). She was responsible for the basic daily care for resident dogs--getting them breaks from the kennel, feeding them meals, administering medication, keeping their kennels clean, and ensuring each dog received love and affection. It was during her time as an ACT that she found her passion for helping animals and was inspired to study veterinary medicine so she could have an even larger impact on the lives of animals.

Today, Ambrina is studying to become a registered Vet Tech so she can continue to make a difference. In addition to all her work with the medical team, Ambrina is always willing to lend a hand wherever it's needed (she even shares her artistic skills by regularly making beautiful signs for the Marketing Department). We are so grateful and lucky to have Ambrina with us at CWOB.

This love truly knows no borders!❤️

Remember Ringo [swipe to the end to see him when he first arrived]? Ringo was transferred into our care months ago from our incredible partners in the Central Valley. He had obviously been neglected and was nearly hairless, covered in painful scabs, severely malnourished, and emotionally shut down.

It was only a matter of days in our care until his bright, loving, joyous personality shone through.

And today, he is THRIVING!😍 His adopters found out about him from a friend of CWOB. They were so smitten that they drove all the way from Colorado to pick him up and drive him home.

Since becoming a Colorado boy, Ringo has enjoyed lots of time on the trails, visiting local watering holes, and getting plenty of affection.

THIS is what it's all about! ✨

This is what love and care look like! ❤️‍🩹🐾

Remember our sweet boy DJ who was transferred into our care from our incredible partners at Fresno Humane Animal Services?

💔 DJ had been chained up outside where he was seriously underweight and suffering from both a painful skin condition and an old jaw injury that never healed properly. Despite it all, this resilient boy remained full of love and hope. Since the day he arrived at Muttopia he has been nothing but tail wags and affection.

Today, he is thriving. He is well-nourished, his hair is growing back beautifully, and most importantly he knows love. DJ loves going for walks, is friendly with everyone he meets, and is a great friend to other dogs.

Thanks to the love and care of staff, volunteers, and our partner shelter, DJ is ready to find a home to call his own. 🏡Help spread the word that DJ is available for adoption.

SAFE! ❤️‍🩹

Meet Jason, a darling poodle mix we just rescued after hearing reports of a dog living in terrible conditions on the street. When we found him, he was severely matted, malnourished, and emotionally shut down. We can see in his eyes that he has been through so much, but all of that changes today!

We love you, Jason. ❤️ You are safe now!

Happy National Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week! 🩺 🐾

Compassion Without Borders has THE most compassionate, skilled, and dedicated vet techs on both sides of the border and we are grateful for them this week and EVERY day!

They are the ones that provide the hands on care that heals, carry our animals through surgery, and mend them along their journey to health and happiness.

To start the week off, we want to give a heartfelt thanks to our staff and volunteer techs who touch the lives of so many animals.

❤️🐾 This Adoption Update Hits Close to Home!

Remember Benjamin, the darling pup rescued from Fresno who lost both of his eyes after a brutal attack?

Well… drumroll, please.... Benjamin has found a loving home with his foster family—CWOB co-founders Moncho and Christi Camblor and their son, Diego!

The Camblors have fostered countless animals with special medical needs over the years, but Benjamin was one they just couldn't let go ❤️

From the moment Benjamin arrived, Diego slept with him every night, and the two quickly became inseparable. Meanwhile, the family's other dogs slowly helped Benjamin learn to trust dogs again. Before long, he had become an integral part of the household.

Despite everything he's been through, Benjamin shines with a special light. He's a beautiful reminder of resilience and hope, despite unthinkable odds.

We love you Benjamin!

This adoption update! (Guido, formerly Arthur) 😍🐾

"Guido is doing incredibly well considering he came into our home with two brothers and other dogs in my care. Each day he becomes a little bit more confident and trusting and enjoy sleeping on our laps and giving us kisses. He enjoys going for walks with his brothers and he's not a fussy eater as I've introduced a new food with his old. I worked with him and he learned to use the dog door in a week. He knows to go in and out when he has to go potty or wants to enjoy being on his outdoor dog bed in the sun. We're grateful to have such a sweet little boy in our family and know that is time passes the bond will become stronger. He's a wonderful addition to our family! The picture with the three dogs on the couch are all of our boys. Guido and his brothers Mario whom we adopted from CWOB and Luigi."

This boy was starving to death; today, he is the zoomiest guy at the shelter! 💛

Remember Axel, this 4-year-old French Bulldog who came into our care after being rescued by our incredible partners at Patitas Callejeras A.C.

When we first met him you could see every bone beneath his emaciated frame. 💔 He was weak, shutdown, and in terrible need of some serious TLC.

With some medical attention and a lot of love, Axel is absolutely THRIVING! You would never have guessed that just months ago he was too weak to play. Now, he brings the party wherever he goes. 🎉🐾 In true Frenchie fashion he is a little bulldozer of love. He is all about kisses, treats, and chasing after his ball (turns out he loves fetch more than his cattle dog friends here at Muttopia!).

It's a beautiful day for cats and compassion. 🐱✨

Did you know that we extend our rescue and care efforts to cats, too? Though the dogs take center stage here at Compassion Without Borders, behind the scenes we are providing regular care and rescue to cats in need.

At our Home for Hope in Mexico, we have an entire area designed for rescue cats; it includes a beautiful, enclosed catio where cats can safely experience outdoor time. Here in the U.S., we currently have three cats in our care who were rescued from heartbreaking circumstances, including our sweet mama kitty Mimosa who lost her paws after her front limbs had been tied off with rubber bands. Last month, we celebrated many cat adoptions in Mexico and every month we serve dozens of cats at our community wellness clinics.

Thanks to everyone for extending love and compassion to all living creatures!
