Looking for a little dog who’s ready to GO? Meet Rome! 🐾

Rome is a ~4-year-old, 25 lb Miniature Schnauzer mix who is smart, confident, people-loving, and always up for something fun. She loves getting out for walks and makes a great walking buddy, cruising along and checking in with her person along the way.

She knows some basic commands, is reported to be housetrained with access to a dog door, and would love an active adopter who can keep her busy with walks, playtime, training, and plenty of things to do.

Rome can get a little too excited about dogs, bikes, and small critters she spots while out and about, so she’ll benefit from someone willing to continue working on her training. At home, she’s looking to be your one and only pet — all the attention for Rome, please. 😂

Okay, everyone, it’s Foster Friday, and Ralph would like everyone to know that 4.5 is basically still a kitten. 😹

Ralph has been in our care since February and has spent time in a few different foster homes along the way. Right now, he’s hanging out with one of our foster extraordinaires and showing off just how much personality this little guy has.

He’s active, playful, entertaining, and always finding something to do. His current favorites? Corkscrews and his stuffed toy — and his foster sent us some video evidence to prove it. 😂 Be sure to swipe to the end!

Basically, Ralph is a cute little cat with some serious kitten energy packed into a 4.5-year-old body.

After all these months in foster, we’d really love to see Ralph land in a home of his own — preferably with a family looking for a fun, active cat who will keep them entertained. 💙

Obsidian would like to file a formal complaint. 🖤

Her siblings have ALL been adopted, and yet somehow this adorable 4-month-old cutie is still here?!

She’s been waiting a few weeks now, and frankly, she has questions. 😂

Obsidian’s adoption fee is $150 and includes her spay, microchip, age-appropriate vaccines, FELV/FIV testing, flea & worm treatment, a certificate for a free vet exam, and more.

Well, we already have a Brian Jones update!

Brian spent his first night in foster, and so far, we’ve learned that he gets along with dogs, loves kids, ignores cats, and is VERY playful! 💙

He also really loves being with his people and may need some extra support learning that alone time is okay.

Not bad for one night in foster! 🥹 And this sweet boy is available for adoption NOW!

Does your kid wish they could spend their afternoons hanging out with animals? We can help with that! 🐕️🐈️

Our Humane Education programs give young animal lovers the chance to get hands-on at the Santa Cruz SPCA — learning real animal-care skills, spending time with shelter animals, going behind the scenes, and working their way toward becoming future SCSPCA volunteers! 🐾

First stop: PAWS Foundations!

This three-week program introduces kids to shelter life, animal welfare, safety, responsible pet care, and how to confidently interact with animals — plus plenty of time getting to know some furry friends!

Once they graduate, the adventure continues with PAWS Ambassadors. Ambassadors can come back again and again, with NEW activities, topics, and animal experiences each time.

They’ll get hands-on experience with animal care and feeding, shelter routines, community outreach, fundraising, helping at youth events, and more.

Brian Jones is still waiting for his encore! 🎸

This 3-month-old Australian Shepherd/Corgi-ish mix is the last of our Rolling Stones litter looking for a home — and he’s quite the little character.

Brian is deaf and partially visually impaired, though we’re not sure exactly how much he can see. What we DO know? He’s playful, curious, silly, and very much a puppy! And while caring for a deaf and visually impaired dog may sound intimidating at first, it’s absolutely manageable with some patience, consistency, and a little extra know-how.

Last night, Brian headed into a foster home where he’ll get to show us what life with Brian is really like (puppy shenanigans included).

Meet the Beach Kittens: Laguna & Coronado! 🏖️☀️

These two little beach babes would LOVE to trade shelter life for a home this Labor Day weekend - and lucky for them, two is better than one. 💕

With our BOGO adoption special, adopt two kittens from the same litter (like Laguna & Coronado!) and the second adoption fee is waived. Bonded pairs of adult cats qualify, too!

Why two kittens? They’ve already got a built-in bestie for playing, napping, causing tiny amounts of chaos, and keeping each other company while you’re away. 🐱🐱

And yes, both come spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped!

16 ADOPTIONS last week! We love a week with lots of happy endings! 🎉🐾

A few highlights: some of our Rolling Stones puppies officially rolled on out to their new homes 🎸🐶, Onyx got adopted after a very eventful weekend out and about 💕, and Valentino swept one of our amazing cat volunteers right off her feet and went home with her! 🥹🐱
