October is National Animal Safety and Protection Month.

Things to keep in mind this month.

Halloween is coming up which means Scary Costumes, Decorations and Candy. Be sure to have your pets in a safe and secure area when those trick or treaters arrive. Take your pups for an earlier walk when there’s still some daylight out too.

Toxic candies such as Chocolate or many other candies containing Xyliyol are harmful and sometimes deadly. Be extra cautious when walking your pups. Kids may drop candies and wrappers/sticks. These items can also pose a choking hazard.

Make sure to keep all electrical cords secure as well. Many pets like chewing. Securing cords will prevent fires as well as harm to your pets.

Last but not least toxic mushrooms and poisons.

Many autumn mushrooms are toxic and or deadly and can appear on your lawns and or on hiking trails very quickly. Always keep an eye out for any mushrooms that may be present wherever you are with your pup. Another poison to be aware of is recent poison. Whether it be in your home, garage or around your property, many other places may also have rodenticides around their homes or facilities.

If your pet comes in contact of any poisons please contact poison control and or the emergency Vet right away. Either may instruct you on how to induce vomiting and then transport to Vet right away.

Be safe this Holiday season!

Did you know we carry C*D products for both dogs and cats?

Holistic Tails C*D is made with C*D isolate and can be used as needed or as part of your pet’s regular routine. Pet parents use C*D for a variety of reasons, including helping support their pet’s overall comfort and wellness.

We have different options available, and our front office would be happy to show you what we carry and answer questions.

(As always, check with your veterinarian before starting any supplements, especially if your pet takes other medications.)
