THE BEST ANIMALS COME FROM THE SANTA CRUZ COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER

Did you adopt from the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter? If so, I want to take your animal’s photo in my pet-friendly Tannery Arts Center studio for a campaign that celebrates the love we have for our Shelter graduates. Let’s show the world some of the incredible animals we found at our local shelter.

With a signed model release, we schedule an hour photo session at my studio. I’ll give you an online album of images, well-sized for social media, for you to share, print, or reuse. I’ll pick one image to incorporate into the final collection, to be unveiled at our September First Friday celebration (September 4, 2026) at my Tannery Arts studio.

Thanks to Suzy Radonsky for the donation of the gorgeous portrait of BMO! Her lucky adopter will get the painting too!

Meet BMO, spayed female cat! This beautiful girl has become a shelter favorite since coming here. She is a sweetheart who loves attention and perks right up when she sees someone walk by. In her previous homes BMO has shown that she is energetic and may take out her energy on her people’s toes if they’re not looking. She would benefit from lots of playtime, physical, and mental stimulation to get all her wiggles out. BMO had previously lived in a home with another cat who she did not get along with and resulted in fighting and stress, so she needs to be a solo kitty in her next home.

In BMO’s previous home, she was indoor-outdoors. We always recommend an indoor lifestyle to keep kitties happy and healthy, but a middle ground would be supervised time outdoors, walking BMO on a cat harness or looking into a catio-type set up.

BMO’s adoption fee has been sponsored by a good samaritan.

Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
