🧡HAPPY FOREVER FRIDAY!🧡
Almost didn’t get to post today’s Forever Friday, but we wouldn’t want to let you down! We’ve got 4… make that 5 furry friends and their new families to celebrate today! First up is Parton, now Parker, who, according to her very short-term foster, will go down as the “easiest, sweetest, and fastest foster ever!” Next is Burt Reynolds, who was named by his fosters thanks to his scruffy mustache. His adopter loved the name so much it stuck!! Next is Athena, now Noelle, our extra special feline friend. She came to us with a nose injury and, while it took some time to find her the perfect home, we think she is right where she belongs now! Finally, it’s Cameron and Ferris! For fans of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, you will appreciate this adorable duo and all the trouble they are sure to get into. In fact, her new family also loved the names so much that they will forever be Ferris and Cameron! (Just don’t give them the keys to your hot rod!) Congrats to everyone, and thank you for adopting!

🧡 SEND MARVEL HEALING VIBES 🧡

Marvel is suffering from entropion in both of his eyes and is heading in for surgery this morning to correct them.

Entropion is a painful condition where the eyelid rolls inward, causing fur and eyelashes to rub directly against the cornea.

He’s been on eye meds since arriving at Big Barn from our friends at Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control, which has helped, but this surgery will be a permanent fix for him.

If you have not yet bid in our Online Auction or grabbed a ticket or two from our Trip of a Lifetime raffle, head over to the link in our comments by October 28th. Proceeds from this auction and raffle will help ALIVE Rescue continue to pay for surgeries and medical treatments like the one Marvel is receiving today.

🧡 SWEET DUMPLING 🧡

How it started vs. How it’s going ➡️

Sweet Dumpling was born at Big Barn on May 23rd and she’s still living at the shelter. It’s truly no place for a puppy to grow up. She deserves a forever home and a foster home in the meantime.

This girl is full of life. When she’s at events or out on field trips she bounces around and has to say hello to everyone. She loves playing with her siblings, going for walks, and snuggling up to volunteers. She’s got legs for days and uses them to zoom around and be goofy. Consider applying to foster or adopt her by visiting our website. Her adoption fee is waived for the entire month of October.

⏳ Don’t forget to bid in our online auction and grab a raffle ticket for our Trip of a Lifetime raffle by October 28th. Time is running out. Link in comments for more details. ⏳

🧡 SENDING GRATITUDE TO OUR 2026 CHICAGO MARATHON TEAM 🧡

Last night we hosted our 2026 Chicago Marathon team at pizza lobo for our team dinner. In all, ALIVE Rescue has 88 runners on the team this year (WOW!!!). They have been working so hard since last year to reach their fundraising goals and we could not be more grateful. Without them ALIVE Rescue would not exist.

We will be cheering each and every one of you on tomorrow from the 23 and 24-mile mark. We could not be more proud.

THANK YOU!!!

🧡 MEET GIGI 🧡

It’s rare that we know an animal’s history prior to rescuing them. Typically, we are saving dogs from high-kill shelters who were found as strays, and their story remains their own. We can only guess the hardships they endured.

That’s not the case with Gigi.
We know her story.
She was loved.
A lot.

A few weeks back, an unhoused person came to Big Barn in need of help. We listened to their story, felt their pain, and knew we could not turn them away.

Gigi’s person was experiencing a string of bad luck and had lost their job, which forced them to move into their car. Because of this, it was difficult to find work, as they refused to leave Gigi in the car all day long. They felt she deserved more.

We offered to take her in for a few months while her person got back on their feet, but ultimately, the decision was made that a permanent goodbye would be the best decision.

Gigi had been with this person 24/7 since she was a puppy. She was well taken care of, and she was the light in this person’s life. They loved her enough to let her go.

This girl is now looking for a foster and/or forever home. Since she’s only nine months old, you can expect a long and happy life with her. She’s AMAZING with other dogs! Super playful and polite, she’s loving and knows how to snuggle. She would make a great adventure buddy. She’s great in the car and is used to experiencing life on the go.

If you are interested in meeting her visit our website to apply.

🧡 MEET REMUS 🧡

The first thing we noticed about Remus when we met him at Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control was how gentle he was. We gave him a treat and he slowly took it from us. All 90+ pounds of him. An hour later he was loaded up in our vehicle and heading to Big Barn.

This dude is perfection. Well, almost perfect. On a recent field trip his handler mentioned he sat backwards in the car so he may need more practice with that. 😂 He’s amazing on leash and will walk right next to you the entire time. He loves greeting ALL the people. He’s goofy with a small amount of shy on the side. Other dogs don’t seem to phase him. He’s a dream.

Remus is currently living at the shelter. We would love to find him a foster until his forever home comes along. Once he goes to foster, we can save another dog. Visit our website to apply.
