🆘 FOSTERS NEEDED 🆘

Unfortunately, we’ve completely stopped intake.

Big Barn is full. We have a record number of animals at the shelter. Thirty-six to be exact.

Our current fosters have been quiet. With nowhere for these animals to go, we can’t save any more from our partners who desperately need us.

We have so many amazing animals at Big Barn waiting to be fostered. They include adult dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, large dogs (Marcellus the three legged Cane Corso is a gentle giant), small dogs, and everything in between.

Most of our animals are good with other animals too!

We are sharing just a handful of those waiting. Pictured in this order: Cabbage, Marcellus, Conrad, Savannah, Mabel, Nova, Finkle, Lisette, Briggs, Einhorn, Leo, Piper, and Wynonna.

🧡 ZUCCHINI + NINE 🧡

If you missed it, one of our latest saves (Zucchini) just welcomed nine little additions at Big Barn. We rescued her from Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC) and seven days later she delivered her puppies in the middle of the night.

We’ve been monitoring the puppies closely, weighing them 2-3 times a day. Any puppies not gaining weight have been getting solo time at the mama milk bar. Puppy #3 has been getting a lot of extra attention.

We can’t wait to introduce each puppy to you. They are all named after a different squash and one is cuter than the next.

🧡 MEET CONRAD - WAITING NINE YEARS FOR A HOME🧡

If there was ever a pup who deserved a forever home, it would be Conrad. His journey has been a long one and we are hoping his next stop after ALIVE Rescue will be his forever.

As a young puppy, Conrad was found with ten other siblings and an injured mother in Arkansas. He was brought to a shelter where he remained living outside for NINE YEARS. His entire life.

In November of 2025, the rescue director abandoned all of the dogs living on the property including Conrad. Thankfully, our friends at Animal Rescue Corps stepped in and saved him and many others.

Conrad has never lived in a home or known the love that comes from having a family. We plan on changing that ASAP.

He is as sweet as can be. He loves other dogs, rolling in the grass, quiet time with humans, napping in the sun, playing in the water, and soft pets.

🧡 MAKEOVER MONDAY 🧡

You won’t believe this glow up. Swipe ➡️ to see Peach’s transformation. Huge thanks to Jenna for making this happen.

Peach 🍑 is one of thirteen saves from last week. She was found as a stray in Milwaukee and was taken in by our partner Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC). She immediately received a special spa day after arriving at Big Barn and we didn’t even recognize her after her hair cut.

This girl is about 1 1/2 years old. She’s sweet, spunky, and ready for her forever (or foster) home. Peach loves going on walks when she’s not chilling in a friendly humans lap.

🧡 MEET SAVANNAH 🧡

This 11-month-old girl is a chunk of Love with a capital L. Found as a stray and taken to our friends at , we met her and instantly fell in love. She’s now hanging at Big Barn until we can find a foster or forever home for her. Check out what a difference a day makes and how human affection feeds her soul.

🧡 FANTASTIC FOREVER FRIDAY! 🧡
Summer is in the air, and we are celebrating today’s Forever Friday by laying it on as thick as the air is going to be in the next few months! We have 6 new families, starting with Pigeon, who is the only one of the bunch keeping her name. She looks a little like what a dog-shaped pigeon would look like, doesn’t she? Then there’s Gemini, now Waffle. (Is it time to break out the syrupy-sweet puns?) Guadalupe (now Nala)'s new family seems to have a type! (She’s the one in front.) Let's not forget about our Girl Scout kittens. First up are Toffee-Tastic and Thin Mint, who are (get this): now Tater and Tot 🧡! Next are Do-Si-Do and Trefoil, now Stanley and Oliver. (The kitten on the left is totally a Stanley.) Finally, rounding out our Fantastic Forever Friday are Artemis, now Gracie, who's looking forward to an amazing forever future. Congratulations to all our new families, and may this summer (and every summer after) be a little warmer and cuddlier. Thanks for adopting!

🧡 MEET BUTTERMILK 🧡

We’ve had a busy week at ALIVE Rescue saving THIRTEEN animals and little Buttermilk is just one of them. She was found as a stray in Milwaukee and was taken in by our friends at Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC). She’s all the things you would expect from a 2-month-old kitten. And yes, Buttermilk makes biscuits. She’s now hanging out at our partner PetSmart until her forever home comes along. She prefers home with another kitty to play with.

Think your pet has what it takes to be a cover model?

Enter ALIVE Rescue’s 6th Annual “Best In Rescue” Contest before the submission deadline on May 31st!

Share your favorite photo of your pet and help raise money for homeless animals in need. Every dollar raised goes toward giving rescue animals a second chance — and your furry (or feathered, or scaly!) friend could win amazing prizes and bragging rights.

Once your entry is approved, you can rally your family and friends to vote and support your pet throughout the contest!

🧡 ADOPTION EVENT TODAY 🧡

Buzz, Guadalupe, and Nova would love to meet you today (4/26) at in Pleasant Prairie, WI from 12:30-3:30 pm. They are all looking for forever homes and Guadalupe and Nova also need foster homes until their forever is found. They are all great with other dogs and children. Hope to see you soon!

🧡 THANK YOU 🧡

Huge thanks to Mark, Brent, Jen, Chad, Marcia, Beth, Sherri, Cara, and Brynn for all their help today with our initial spring clean up. We got SO much accomplished and the property is starting to take shape.

Together, we were able to clean out the garage, pull a ton of weeds, cut back all the grasses and perennials, chop down a bunch of dead trees, and clear out a large portion of brush along the driveway.

We truly have the best staff and volunteers.
