You go to scratch your cat's shoulder and your hand finds something that definitely wasn't there two days ago: warm, squishy, and very much off limits.

That's usually an abscess, a sealed pocket of infection that hurts a great deal and almost never clears up on its own. What surprises people is that antibiotics alone often aren't enough, because they can't reach inside a walled-off pocket or remove the foxtail, bad tooth, or blocked gland that started it. Our latest blog covers the common types and how fast each one needs attention, and Peak Pet Urgent Care can get your pet comfortable the same day.

You reach down to scratch your cat's shoulder and your hand finds something that wasn't there two days ago: a warm, squishy swelling they very much do not want you touching. Or you walk into the living room and discover that the lump has already opened on its own, all over the couch. Either way,

Your dog's head suddenly won't stay straight, he's circling, stumbling, and his eyes are darting back and forth. That picture is far more often vestibular disease than a stroke, but ear infections and other problems can look identical. Our latest post walks through the causes and how vets sort them out.

A sudden head tilt in a dog traces back to vestibular disease, a disturbance of the balance system in the inner ear and brainstem, far more often than to an actual stroke. The distinction is hard to trust in the moment, because a vestibular episode can also bring circling, stumbling, vomiting from t...

Scrubbing the floor again? When diarrhea won't quit, giardia and coccidia are the usual suspects, but in puppies and kittens it can also signal something more serious. At Peak Pet Urgent Care, in-house f***l testing means most pets leave with a diagnosis and treatment already started the same day. More on the blog, link below.

The sudden, watery diarrhea that has you scrubbing floors at midnight often traces back to giardia or coccidia, two of the most common intestinal parasites in dogs and cats, though only a f***l test can separate them from each other and from other causes of stomach upset. Both spread through contami...

Not everything sold in stores is actually safe for your pet. Toys cause intestinal blockages, hard chews break teeth, and the wrong collar can create lasting behavioral damage or neck pain. Our latest post walks through which gear to skip and what to do when something goes wrong.

The biggest poisoning risks to dogs and cats are rarely exotic chemicals; they are ordinary items already sitting in your kitchen, bathroom, and garage. Sugar-free gum sweetened with xylitol, human pain relievers, lilies, rodent bait, and a surprising share of pantry foods can push a dog or cat into...
