🐾 A little dog with a big family to love!

Sheldon, an adorable Chihuahua-Dachshund mix, had an appointment at Options Veterinary Care for his annual exam—and he brought his whole family along for the occasion! ❤️

Sheldon is clearly one very loved little guy, and thanks to the support of Options donors, he was able to get the routine veterinary care he needs to stay happy and healthy.

Healthy pets. Happy families. More years together.

That’s what accessible veterinary care is all about. 🐾

🎉 PETUNIA’S HAPPY TAIL! 🐾💛

Sometimes the journey to happily ever after takes a little detour… and that’s okay!

Petunia first came to Options Veterinary Care last fall with a leg injury. Thanks to an incredible foster, lots of TLC, and the care she needed, this sweet girl healed beautifully.

She was adopted, but her first home turned out not to be quite the right fit. Some rowdy resident cats decided Petunia wasn’t their cup of tea—and Petunia deserves a home where she can truly shine.

So we put out a plea… and it worked! 🥹

Petunia has officially been adopted AGAIN! 🏡✨

She stopped by Options last week for a little final send-off: a nail trim, updated vaccines, and the very official paperwork making her adoption official. Then she was off to begin her next chapter with her new family!

And honestly? We couldn’t be happier for her. ❤️

Petunia is about 5 years old, a professional biscuit-maker, blessed with a BIG personality, and has a purr that absolutely refuses to be ignored.

Her journey may have taken an unexpected turn, but every step was worth it to get her where she belongs.

Congratulations, Petunia! 🐾💛

And a huge thank-you to our foster volunteers and supporters who helped Petunia heal, to everyone who cheered her on, and to the family who opened their hearts to her. THIS is what happy tails are made of!

🐾 Sweetie has a very special person in her corner.

Meet Sweetie, a 1-year-old Labradoodle, and her best friend, Jim. Jim rescued Sweetie as a puppy, and she’s been by his side ever since. ❤️

Jim is deeply committed to keeping Sweetie healthy and brought her to Options Veterinary Care to make sure her vaccines and annual care were up to date. Our team was able to work with Jim to prioritize her care and make sure Sweetie received everything she needed.

Thanks to the generosity of Options donors, Sweetie was able to get the care she needed to stay happy, healthy, and by Jim’s side.

Because that’s what accessible veterinary care is all about: keeping pets with the people who love them. 🐾

🐾 Big dog. Big heart. Big reason Options exists.

Meet Charlie, a big ol’ black Lab who stopped by Options Veterinary Care for his vaccines—and another reminder of why accessible veterinary care matters.

Options is Northern Nevada’s first and only nonprofit veterinary clinic serving the public. We help pets get the care they need when an unexpected vet bill could otherwise put that care out of reach.

Because pets belong with the people who love them. ❤️

Affordable care. Healthier pets. Families kept together.

🐾 Kicking off a new work week so we want to know... what's YOUR pet's official job title? 🐾

Every pet has a job. Some of them just take their responsibilities VERY seriously. 😂

Maybe yours is:

💼 Chief Snack Inspector
🛋️ Director of Couch Occupancy
💻 IT Support Specialist (walks across the keyboard)
📦 Director of Box Operations
🚪 Head of Door Security
🧹 Household Cleaning Supervisor
🌅 Chief 4:00 AM Alarm Officer
💰 Chief Financial Officer (spends all your money)
❤️ Full-Time Emotional Support Specialist
🩺 Medical Drama Consultant (every tiny thing is an emergency)

Tell us your pet’s official job title in the comments!

📸 Bonus points if you have a photo proving they take their job VERY seriously.

And bonus BONUS points for an unnecessarily impressive title. 😂

🐱🐱 You've probably heard shelters and rescues say, “Two kittens are better than one.” 😉

There’s a very good reason behind it!

It's called Single Kitten Syndrome, and it's something animal welfare agencies see all too often.

Kittens are learning everything during those first few months of life—how to play, communicate, respect boundaries, handle frustration and interact appropriately with other cats.

A littermate or similarly aged kitten can be an incredible teacher. 🐾

🐱 They teach each other how to play without getting TOO rough.
🐱 They help burn off that seemingly endless kitten energy.
🐱 They provide companionship when their humans are busy.
🐱 They learn important social skills from one another.
🐱 And they help prevent boredom and some of those classic “I'm a kitten and I'm going to climb your curtains now” behaviors. 😂

And here's the really important part:

Adopters benefit, too!

Two kittens can keep each other entertained, which means fewer midnight zoomies directed at YOU, fewer ankles ambushed in the hallway, and a built-in playmate for all that kitten chaos.

Plus, watching two kittens become best friends?

Absolutely priceless. 🥹❤️

That's why you may see rescues encourage adopters to consider adopting kittens in pairs—or adding a kitten to a home with another young, playful cat.

It isn't about adopting more cats.

It's about giving kittens the opportunity to grow up with the social interaction they need to become happy, well-adjusted cats.

🐾 Sometimes the most important thing we can give a pet is a little help for the person who loves them. ❤️

Lately, Options has been hearing from an increasing number of seniors living in low-income housing who are struggling to afford the everyday supplies their pets need.

And, when seniors bring their pets to Options and tell us they need help, we want to be able to say, “We've got you.”

That's where YOU come in. 🥹

We're currently collecting donations of pet food and supplies to help meet these growing needs.

🧺 Our most requested items:

🐱 Unscented clumping cat litter
🐱 Adult cat food — dry & canned
🐶 Small-dog food — dry & canned, adult & senior formulas

Any name brand is welcome! We especially appreciate good-quality, middle-of-the-road options—not the bargain basement stuff, but no need to break the bank either. ❤️

If you can help, we'd be incredibly grateful.

If you can't donate, sharing this post helps too. You never know who has an extra bag of food or box of litter sitting in their pantry.

Let's show our seniors—and the pets who depend on them—that their community is here for them. ❤️🐾

🥹❤️ From colony cat to COMPLETELY loved.

We shared Mr. Garyson just last weekend—and already, we have the BEST update!

This sweet 10-year-old came to Options Veterinary Care needing some help. We got him the care he needed, and once he was ready to find his people, our friends at The Radical Cat opened their doors and gave him a cozy place to wait.

And he didn't have to wait long. 🥹

Mr. Garyson is HOME! 🏡❤️

Once a colony cat, this handsome senior is now officially someone's beloved companion—and judging by what we know about Garyson, his new family better be prepared for a full-time position as:

🐾 Professional Petter
🐾 Head Scratcher
🐾 Cuddle Coordinator
🐾 Chief Provider of Attention

Because all this boy wants is LOVE, pets and attention. And these folks seem pretty darn up to the task. 😉

We are over here tearing up with pure happiness. ❤️

And speaking of The Radical Cat…

🐱 They still have several other Options cats waiting for their people!

If you're looking for your next best friend, stop by this weekend and say hello. You never know which furry face might steal your heart.

🐾 They don't need you to fix them. They just need a little time. 💙

Wilbur and Francis came to Options Veterinary Care from Washoe County Regional Animal Services as part of an overcrowding case. Their past is difficult to imagine—but their future can be very different.

Right now, they're both scared. And what they need most isn't a busy clinic environment—it's a foster home.

They need a quiet room, a patient human, and the chance to learn that people can be trusted.

And good news: they don't appear to be bonded, so they can be fostered separately! That means each boy can have his own special person and all the one-on-one attention he needs. 🥹

🐱 Wilbur is very frightened in the clinic, and when he's scared, he gets a little spicy. He needs someone willing to give him space, move slowly and let him decide when he's ready to come out of his shell.

🐱 Francis is already showing us glimpses of the sweet boy underneath the fear. Talk to him in a soft baby voice and rub your fingers together, and he'll roll over as if to say, “Yes, please! I would LOVE some pets!”

He's just not quite brave enough to let you touch him yet. But he's getting there. ❤️

And that's where a foster comes in.

Imagine being the person who helps Francis take that next little step.

Imagine watching Wilbur go from “STAY AWAY!” to “Okay… maybe you can sit here.”

Those tiny breakthroughs are what fostering is all about.

🏡 We provide the supplies.
🩺 We provide the medical care.
💙 We provide the support.

You provide the quiet space, patience, consistency and love. First-time fosters welcome.

Wilbur and Francis have already been through more than they ever should have.

Let's give them the chance to discover what life can be like now.

🚨 SHARES NEEDED for Gordon Ramsay. 🚨

We’re reposting Gordon’s story because, quite honestly, we haven’t received nearly enough donations to get him the care he needs. 💔

And the clock is ticking.

Sweet 10-year-old Gordon Ramsay has severe Grade 4 dental disease and a painful tooth infection. He also has a heart murmur that our veterinary team is taking into consideration as they prepare him for his procedure.

Gordon is scheduled for his pre-op bloodwork on Monday, with his dental procedure shortly after.

But we need to raise the funds to make that happen.

💔 His dental estimate is $1,618.13.
💙 His mom has contributed what she can—$30—but she's facing a difficult financial situation and simply can't cover the rest.

We know we've been asking a lot lately.

We know everyone is stretched thin.

We know there are a million places asking for help right now.

But Gordon is one of those pets who needs his community to show up for him. He is uncomfortable, his mouth is painful, and we don't want his dental disease to continue getting worse while we try to find the funds for his care.

So we're asking for something very simple today:

What if everyone who sees this gave just $10?

If every one of our followers gave $10, we could make a HUGE dent in Gordon's medical bill.

And if you truly can't donate right now, please SHARE this post. ❤️

Your share could put Gordon's story in front of the person who can help.

🐾 $10 helps.
🐾 $20 helps.
🐾 $5 helps.
🐾 A share helps.
🐾 Every single person who helps moves Gordon one step closer to feeling better.

Gordon's family is counting on him coming home feeling like himself again.

Let's get this sweet senior through his bloodwork, through his dental, and back to the family who loves him. ❤️🦷
