Meet Lucky!

Lucky is an adorable, 6 pound, 9-year-old Chihuahua who came to us after the heartbreaking loss of her owner. Since arriving, she’s received much-needed care for some eye issues that were causing discomfort, and she’s feeling so much better these days. Lucky will need eye drops several times a day for the rest of her life, but she takes them like an absolute champ.

This sweet girl is a classic Chihuahua — happiest curled up in your lap or following you from room to room. Lucky forms strong bonds with her people and loves being close to them whenever she can.

Because Lucky had very limited socialization in her previous life, she can be very fearful in new environments and around unfamiliar people. She will need a patient, understanding home willing to give her the time and space she needs to feel safe and settle in at her own pace. Once she trusts you, Lucky’s loving personality truly shines.

Lucky has been doing well in her foster home, but we feel she would do best in a quieter home without children. Small dogs are okay for her.

If you have room in your heart and home for a devoted little companion who just needs a chance to feel safe and loved again, please fill out an application for Lucky.

Please share Lucky so we can find her perfect match!

Gidget Adopted!

There is something very special about seeing one of our senior dogs find a forever home. Seniors often come with health challenges and need a little extra care, patience, and love — making these adoptions even more meaningful.

A huge thank you to Kristina and Chris for fostering Gidget back to health and helping prepare her for this next chapter. And to her amazing adopter, thank you for opening your heart and being ready to continue Gidget’s care and give her the loving retirement home she deserves.

We are beyond happy for Gidget!

From Gidget’s new Mom:

“Desolate after losing my rescued chi mix, I knew it would take a special dog to help me heal. Gidget’s picture on the Pets With Disabilities website drew me in. Though she’s deaf as the result of severe ear infections, she’s a doll. She loves roaming her fenced yard and rooting around under blankets in her three dog beds. I adore her, and she seems to return the sentiment. I’m so grateful to Pets With Disabilities for rescuing her and letting me become her Mom!”

We had a great time at Breakfast at Sniffany's yesterday! We are thankful to be chosen as one of the beneficiaries this year ❤️

Once again, Heather Maertens from Maertens Jewelry and her team, knocked it out of the park! Well organized, so many great auction items, good food and even better company!

Thank you so much for your support!

Last week the Washington International School Visual Art and Design Technology class came to visit with dog toys they engineered/adapted for each of our dogs need.

Thank you to these 7th graders for their hard work and creativity! The pups certainly enjoyed all the extra attention!

Clover is a 3-year-old, petite, 13 pound, beagle whose story could have ended very differently.

Found severely injured in someone’s front yard, she was rushed to a veterinarian by a compassionate Good Samaritan. There, it was discovered that her pelvis was shattered on both sides.

Facing an uncertain future, Pets with Disabilities stepped in to give Clover the second chance she so desperately needed and deserved. On Saint Patrick’s Day, our lucky girl underwent major surgery to repair her pelvis.

Because of the severity of her injuries, Clover needed to remain quiet with controlled exercise while recovering from surgery, which has made some aspects of her progress a bit slower. Her recovery has been anything but easy, but with dedicated physical therapy, plenty of rest, and an abundance of love, Clover is steadily regaining her strength. She is now fully healed!

True to her beagle nature, Clover remains a joyful and curious pup. She’s incredibly sweet and friendly, though a bit timid when meeting new people. She would thrive in a calm, patient home where she can feel safe and loved—preferably one where she can curl up beside her family and take life at her own pace.

We suspect Clover has never lived in a home before, so she’ll need guidance as she learns the basics of being a cherished pet. She is not yet house trained and is still working on leash skills, but we are actively working with her on both. Slowly but surely, she is making progress and will continue to improve with consistency and patience. A home with a fenced-in yard and dog friends would be ideal as she continues to build confidence.

Today, Clover is fully recovered and ready to begin the happy, healthy life she deserves. With a little patience and a lot of love, she’s sure to blossom into an incredible companion.
