Why TNR Matters — And Why We Need You Now

A few days ago, many of you saw the heartbreaking post about Sonny, the orange cat found in town in terrible condition. He was an older cat, and he tested positive for FIV/FeLV.

This is the reality for so many unaltered cats living outside.

When cats are not spayed or neutered, they mate and they fight—and that’s exactly how these deadly diseases spread. It’s preventable.

TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) saves lives.

✔️ It stops the cycle of endless litters
✔️ It drastically reduces disease spread
✔️ It prevents fighting, spraying, and roaming
✔️ It stabilizes colonies so they no longer grow

Cats that are TNR’d live healthier, safer lives—and the community benefits too.

Then yesterday… we got another urgent call.

A tiny blind kitten in a barn colony. Very sick. Suffering.

It took nearly 10 people, all day and into the evening, to coordinate transport and get that baby to a rescue in Maryland where it could receive care.

Two cases. Just this week. Both critical.

And here’s the truth—we want to help more.

But we can’t do it without funding.
We can’t do it without fosters.
We can’t do it without YOU.

We are working hard to get a TNR program fully up and running here in our community—but we need support right now to make that happen.

The animals in our community deserve better.

Kitten season has already begun… and we are not ready.

Before we can restart our TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) program for 2026, we are still carrying:
➡️ $2,000 in unpaid veterinary bills from 2025
➡️ 3 large colonies still waiting to be finished

Every day we wait, more kittens are born into a cycle of suffering we are trying so hard to stop.

💔 This is the reality:
We cannot help new colonies until we catch up.
We cannot prevent more litters until we have funding.

And right now—we are falling behind at the worst possible time.

We need carriers! We prefer these top loaders but all of our carriers have been loaned out and not returned. We had a transport today but no carriers to put the kittens in. If you have carriers to donate please reach out to us. If you can donate new ones please let us know that as well.
