Check out this gorgeous boy Samson!! 😄Adopted last month and living his best life on Cape Cod. Samson, who was recently groomed is helping us spread the word about why regular grooming is so important for this beautiful, fluffy breed!

A Healthy Samoyed Is More Than Just a Pretty Fluffball! 🐾

Samoyeds are known for their gorgeous double coats, but underneath all that fluff is a lot of responsibility!

✨ Why does proper grooming matter?

🐾 Prevents painful matting: Tangled fur can pull on the skin, trap moisture, and cause discomfort or irritation.

🐾 Promotes healthy skin: Regular brushing removes loose fur and debris while giving you an opportunity to check for redness, hot spots, lumps, or other concerns.

🐾 Helps regulate body temperature: A healthy double coat provides insulation in both cold and warm weather. Proper grooming helps maintain its natural function.

🐾 Reduces excessive shedding: Samoyeds shed year-round, with heavier seasonal coat blows. Regular brushing helps manage all that fluff!

🐾 Supports overall wellness: Grooming sessions are also an opportunity to check ears, paws, nails, and skin for potential problems.

❤️ A few important reminders:

✔️ Brush regularly, paying special attention to areas prone to matting.

✔️ Use grooming tools appropriate for a double-coated breed.

✔️ Make sure the coat is thoroughly dried after bathing.

✔️ Never shave a Samoyed’s double coat for routine grooming or summer cooling.

✔️ Consider a professional groomer experienced with double-coated breeds.

At New England Samoyed Rescue, we believe responsible pet ownership includes understanding the unique needs of the breed.

Because grooming isn’t just about looking good. It’s about feeling good, staying healthy, and living comfortably. ❤️

Let’s give Samson some love for helping us share this important reminder!

🐾 October is National Pet Wellness Month! 🐾

❤️ Love them. Protect them. Keep them healthy.

Our pets give us unconditional love, companionship, and endless reasons to smile. One of the best ways we can return that love is by making their health and wellness a priority!

At New England Samoyed Rescue, we believe that preventive care is one of the greatest gifts we can give our furry family members.

🐶 Here are 7 ways to help protect your pet:

🩺 Schedule regular wellness exams. Routine veterinary visits can help identify potential health concerns before they become serious.

💉 Stay current on vaccinations. Protect your pet against preventable diseases.

🦟 Don’t forget parasite prevention. Fleas, ticks, heartworms, and intestinal parasites can pose serious health risks. Talk to your veterinarian about year-round protection.

🦷 Prioritize dental health. Healthy teeth and gums are important for your pet’s overall well-being.

🥕 Maintain a healthy weight. Balanced nutrition and regular exercise support a longer, healthier life.

🧠 Support mental wellness. Enrichment activities, interactive toys, training, and quality time help keep pets mentally stimulated and happy.

❤️ Know what’s normal for YOUR pet. Changes in appetite, behavior, energy, or bathroom habits can be early signs that something isn’t right.

✨ A healthy pet is a happy pet—and prevention is always better than waiting for a problem.

This October, take a moment to ask yourself: Is there something I can do today to improve my pet’s health and happiness?

🐾 Let’s make every month Pet Wellness Month!

🐾 IF DOGS COULD TALK… OH, THE STORIES THEY’D TELL! 🐶💬

Did you know your dog is communicating with you all day long without saying a single word?

From a playful bow to a tucked tail, our dogs use body language to tell us how they’re feeling. And while we may think we know what they’re saying, sometimes we miss the subtle signs.

❤️ A wagging tail doesn’t always mean a happy dog.

🐾 A quiet dog isn’t necessarily a comfortable dog.

💙 A dog asking for space isn’t being a bad dog.

Learning to recognize canine body language helps us build trust, prevent misunderstandings, and create safer, happier relationships with our four-legged companions.

At New England Samoyed Rescue, we believe education is just as important as rescue. Understanding what dogs are communicating is especially important when welcoming a rescue dog into a new home.

✨ Here’s your challenge: Take a look at our body language guide. How many of these signals have you noticed in your own dog?

👇 Tell us in the comments: What’s one funny, sweet, or surprising way YOUR dog communicates with you?

📲 Share this post with a fellow dog lover. A little understanding can make a BIG difference in a dog’s life.

🐾 SOOOO… YOU THINK YOU WANT A SAMOYED?! 🤣🐻‍❄️ Let’s talk about something they conveniently leave out of those adorable, fluffy pictures…

🔊 THE BARKING. 🔊

Samoyeds don’t just bark. Oh no. They have OPINIONS. Lots of them. And they believe those opinions deserve to be heard. LOUDLY. 📢

Meet Isabella. 💕

She’s beautiful. She’s fluffy. She’s sweet. And she’s upset she is inside when we are outside. Will she eventually stop? Nope!!! Not until we come in or she comes out 🙄

Does she have something important to say? Probably not.

Is she going to say it anyway? ABSOLUTELY.

And don’t even THINK about asking her to use her inside voice. 🤣

Samoyeds: Come for the fluff. Stay for the unsolicited commentary. 🐾

🎥 Sound ON for the full Isabella experience!

👇 Fellow Sammy parents… does your Samoyed also believe silence is completely overrated?
