Dr. Hodges believes that every pet—and their human—are unique, and so are their medical needs. Whether it’s emergency care, surgical procedures, or end-of-life options, the clinic will ensure that every pet receives tailored care that is both compassionate and comprehensive. At LocalVet Urgent care we will have options. Founded by Dr. William Hodges (Dr WHO), a Texas A&M University (TAMU) grad with over 10 years of practice in emergency medicine. Dr. WHO is excited to offer high-quality, complete care for his patients. His experience in emergency care and his dedication to ensuring pets receive the best treatment in times of need will be the driving force behind LocalVet Urgent Care. Coming from the emergency veterinary world, Dr. WHO also understands the extent of care that needs to be available when the unexpected occurs. After-Hours Care
LocalVet Urgent Care will operate from noon to 10 PM, providing after-hours services when other veterinary clinics may be closed. This ensures that your pet can receive the care they need, even during evenings or weekends. Today, we’re shining the spotlight on the heart behind LocalVet Urgent Care — Dr. William Hodges, veterinarian, owner, and emergency medicine enthusiast! 🩺🐶🐱

A Texas A&M Class of 2014 graduate, Dr. Hodges has spent his career helping pets through some of their scariest moments while making sure their people feel heard, informed, and supported.

Meet Tomas: A True LocalVet Rockstar ⭐🐾

Today we want to introduce you to Tomas, a very sweet senior boy who is deeply loved by our own ROCKSTAR veterinary technician, Danna. ❤️

Tomas came into work with his mom when he wasn’t feeling his best. He’s currently fighting GI lymphoma, and while his journey isn’t always easy, he has the very best advocate by his side. With lots of love and care from Danna and our LocalVet team, Tomas was able to leave feeling a little more comfortable. 🐱💙

Tomas is truly the best boy, and we feel incredibly lucky to be part of his care. Moments like this are why we love what we do. We’re proud to serve our community and to be there for pets and their families when life brings unexpected illness, injury, or difficult days.

Sometimes, we can’t fix everything—but we can help make things a little more comfortable, a little less scary, and a whole lot more loved. ❤️🐾

Nimmy’s New Best Friends 🐾💕

Meet Nimmy, a beautiful Ragdoll girl who came to LocalVet Urgent Care when her family noticed she just wasn’t feeling like herself. 💗

While she was here, Nimmy made some new best friends, received plenty of TLC, and, of course, got some extra scratches for being the very best girl! 🐱💕 We’re so happy we could help her feel a little more comfortable and cared for.

It's Devin the world's CUTEST Ice Cream Cone 🐾🤍

This adorable English Cream Retriever puppy recently came to see his friends at LocalVet Urgent Care after getting a cut on his paw pad. 🐶💕

Puppy paws are always on the go, so when Devin’s little paw needed some extra attention, our team was happy to help get him comfortable and back to doing what puppies do best—exploring, playing, and being adorable! 🥰🐾

☀️📚 SUMMER MAY BE OVER… BUT HOUSTON’S HEAT ISN’T! 🥵🐾

The kids are back in school, routines are getting back to normal, and summer vacation is officially winding down… but Houston’s temperatures are still HOT HOT HOT! 🔥

With continued excessive heat, it’s important to take extra precautions with your pets. Dogs and cats can overheat quickly, especially when exercising or spending time outside.

🐶 Watch for signs of overheating:
• Excessive or heavy panting
• Drooling more than usual
• Weakness, wobbliness, or extreme fatigue
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Bright red or pale gums
• Confusion or collapse

🌡️ Keep your pets safe:
💧 Always provide plenty of fresh, cool water
🌳 Keep outdoor time short and provide shade
🐾 Avoid walking during the hottest parts of the day
🔥 Remember that pavement can become dangerously hot for paws
🚗 NEVER leave your pet in a parked vehicle—even for a few minutes

If your pet is showing signs of heat-related illness, don’t wait to see if they improve. Heat stroke can become life-threatening quickly. ❤️‍🩹
