Our Pet Food Pantry needs some love!🐱❤️

We are down to just a few bags of cat food and are completely out of canned cat food. Our pet food and supply pantry is donation-based and available to anyone in our community who needs a little extra help keeping their pets fed, so when the shelves are empty, we have fewer resources to offer families who are counting on us.

The good news? A lot of the cat food on our Amazon wishlist is currently on sale!🥰 You’ll find those items, along with other pet food and supplies for the pantry, under the “Pet Food Pantry” section of our wishlist. There are also plenty of other items on the list that help us keep WCVC running as an access-to-care clinic and support the rescue animals in our care at Shelter From The Storm Animal Rescue.

If you’re able, please consider picking up an item or two from the wishlist. Any brand or flavor can be put to use! Every bag, every case of canned food, and every small donation adds up and helps us keep saying yes when someone in our community needs help.

Donate an item: https://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/2XWUD29RHGDXW?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_ggr-subnav-share_2P4J0G9MRJ2XV5Q0RGPX

Can’t donate right now? That’s okay - sharing this post is incredibly helpful, too! The more people who see it, the more likely we are to fill those empty shelves.

Donations can also be dropped off:

Happy from Sushi!

Sadly, she has spent most of her puppyhood in and out of the vet for frequent visits. She was a breeder surrender to our sister organization, Shelter From The Storm Animal Rescue, at just 4 months old due to chronic upper respiratory infections and eye issues. We have spent months running tests, performing exams, and trialing meds and treatments in attempts to help Sushi stay consistently healthy. What we've seen is her symptoms will clear up, and a few weeks later she'll relapse and we're back to the drawing board.

A few weeks ago, we had a breakthrough. Sushi came in for a sedated tracheal wash to really clear everything out, and look for structural abnormalities in her nasal cavity and throat. To our surprise, given her breed, it was found that Sushi had a very elongated soft palate. Our best guess is that reduced respiratory function, combined with buildup of mucus and drainage has caused recurring URI's.

Last week, she returned for a soft palate resection surgery with Dr. Bianca. So far, so good, but she still has some healing to do. Cross all your fingers and toes that this might finally be the answer for Sushi, and she can be cleared for adoption and get to live the life of a puppy once and for all!

Our friends at Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC) are currently battling a heartbreaking outbreak of Feline Panleukopenia. This is a highly contagious, often fatal virus that can live in the environment for over a year. Cats, especially kittens, are very susceptible to Panleuk. It is very expensive to treat, and the chance of survival is low if not caught extremely early and treated aggressively.

Vaccination is incredibly important in combatting this disease, keeping your pets safe, and protecting our local cat populations. Please make sure your cats are vaccinated, and kept up to date on their boosters. We offer weekly low-cost vaccine clinics every Thursday, as well as community vaccine clinics, including one at Raw Rations Pet Food and Wellness in Sauk City on August 29th!
