Now is a great time, (before it gets cold), to buy a heated water bowl (amazon or hardware store) for outdoor critters. It's also a good opportunity to ensure any outdoor housing is in good condition, elevated from the ground and stocked with fresh straw. If it was up to me, every animal would have a warm bed inside each night, but if you happen to have pets who generally prefers the outdoors, please take the right precautions to keep him/her safe from the elements, warm and hydrated as the colder months roll in. Remember, WATER FREEZES- even in heated water bowls when it gets REALLY cold.

Pets should absolutely br brought inside (to even a garage or basement) in freezing temperatures. Just because they're covered in fur doesn't make them resistant to hypothermia. IF YOU'RE FREEZING, THEY ARE TOO. Please, PREPARE FOR WINTER NOW...

We pay for feral cats in the Kansas City area to be spayed and neutered every week, but the heavy lifting is done by dedicated and compassionate feral cat colony caretakers & trappers. The community truly owes these individuals tremendous gratitude for the selfless work they do. Caring for and humanely trapping cats takes a LOT of time, patience and money (cat food, transportation etc). These people often work in dangerous areas and extreme temperatures, caring for animals who would otherwise be completely on their own and reproducing.

Fix'em KC is happy to assist these volunteers by paying for the surgeries. While they do the hard work of feeding and trapping, together, with low-cost spay/neuter clinics, we help decrease the feral cat population...one by one.

This video shows several feral cats from a large colony being released back to the area they call "home" after their spay/neuter surgeries have been completed. In this now-stabilized colony, the cats may will live out their lives, but won't be reproducing.

🎾🐾 Grab your paddle and play for a great cause! 🐾🎾

The Paddles for Paws Charity Pickleball Tournament & Social is coming to The Carriage Club on Saturday, June 27 at 12:30 PM, benefiting Fix'em KC, a local organization dedicated to reducing pet homelessness through spay and neuter programs. The event welcomes all skill levels, making it the perfect afternoon for both seasoned players and first-time pickleball enthusiasts.

Attendees can enjoy pickleball, food, drinks, raffle prizes, a silent auction, and even puppy snuggles, all while supporting an important cause for Kansas City pets. 18+ are welcome.

WHAT A BLAST! It was HOT, but it was AWESOME! 100 attendees came out to Paddles for Paws yesterday at The Carriage Club to sweat it out for spay and neuter! We raised $10,000 to help struggling pet parents afford low-cost spay/neuter for their fur kids. Preventing litters prevents pet overpopulation and pet homelessness - as simple as that.

Huge thank you to all who came out to play and/or watch the tourney!
