This is National Veterinary Receptionist Week so we want to show some appreciation to our hard working team. Spring time is an extremely busy time for a large animal practice so some of our techs have also filled in on our front desk. First, we recognize Morgan who is our team lead receptionist. She keeps up with everything, everyone and what ever needs done! She plays a crucial role in our front desk and we appreciate her greatly. Next is Gracie, who has worked a lot on our front desk this past year, but also as a tech. We appreciate her being able to fill both positions and she has been a true asset to our staff. We also want to recognize Debbie who has been an employee for many years. Although she is a LVT, she has helped us on the front desk because of being a short staffed, or just busy and we are grateful.
Veterinary Receptionist Week is held annually to celebrate the crucial role of the front desk staff. They provide the first and last point of contact between clients and doctors and their role is critical in communication, clinic efficiency and care. They manage appointments, high volume inquiries, directions, etc for multiple doctors. We appreciate and celebrate them for their hard work and dedication!

As springtime approaches, it is by far our busiest time of the year and our schedule begins to book up as breeding season starts, spring babies are born and people prepare for show and riding season. Here are some tips to help keep this busy time a little less stressful for everyone.
**Plan ahead....our reminders are sent a month before services are due. Please schedule as soon as you receive those. Check your Coggins dates, show and sale requirements in advance to allow time for any required testing/exams/vaccines that may be required. Last minute health certificates and testing needs cannot always be accommodated if enough time is not allowed.
**Consider hauling to the hospital....this saves you a farm call and allows our doctors to help more people because they don't have to spend so much time traveling. Sometimes it also allows you to be seen sooner than a farm visit. For sick animals, we have access to our medical equipment, in house lab work, and technicians to help with treatment.
**Be kind and be flexible. Equine and large animal veterinarians are a dying breed, with less than 10% of new veterinary graduates entering the field, and some 50% of new graduates leaving equine practice within the first 5 years. Workloads are growing and we want to continue providing quality care, day and night in the most sustainable way that we can.
